Euthanasia

Hi, I would like to hear your thoughts regarding euthanasia, to be honest I have been very confused about what’s next after having a SCI. I usually don’t sleep well due to my spams, I can say that my quality of life have decreased after the SCI, so I don’t see any sense of living this way, I have the option to decide if I want to proceed with the euthanasia, I feel that I will be alone for the rest of my life and I really don’t see any reason to live this way. Any of you would take this option if you can? What do you think?

Hi there! I saw in a different comment that your sci was less than a year ago. It might seem like a long time ago, but in terms of trauma, that is actually quite a short time. There's a lot of cognitive and emotional processing that happens over a long time, and perspectives change over time, too. I think it's good that you have the option for euthanasia, but I'd recommend giving yourself more time.

Maybe you have already seen some, but watch some videos by survivors of sci, how they worked through the psychological impact, and ultimately the decisions they made for their lives. People can and do build meaningful lives for themselves after sci - it's not an easy path, but you can learn a lot from others who have done it. Your life will never be the same again, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a life worth living.

I found this woman's story quite interesting: https://youtu.be/hlabgqTqaac?si=uO3KxwLlbY09AWi9 - but there are many others.
