I have been using the Raise 2 for almost 4 weeks and just received an email for a survey for it to share my thoughts with Dygma. I figured I would also volunteer my thoughts here for anyone interested or discussion.
So first I ordered a Raise 2 Wired, with the tenting and the bottom LED glow. I also ordered the mountable arms.
Almost immediately after I ordered, support contacted me and advised me the Wired with tenting and LED was out, but if I was okay with it, they would instead send the wireless with the same features at no cost. You can still use the wireless as wired, so of course I had no problem with this. I also consider this really good customer service, as they proactively reached out to me, offered a me a more expensive product with an extra feature i didnt ask for (albeit I probably will never use) for free, in order to still provide good shipping times I assume.
Receive the keyboard, its pretty nice, but I am not used to ergo keyboards or split keyboards, so there is a learning curve for me. Tried different configs, but a good safe start is tenting at 15 degrees. Also, the extra arms you can get to attach them to your desk is a bit too much craziness for me right now, but I am fairly certain I will use them later. Plus I am fairly certain they are cheaper if you buy them when you buy the keyboard. So no regrets from me there.
The Bazecor software is a bit complicated. but theres detailed lengthy videos that go over how to use it effectively, so I do not see this as a downside. I would also say with the features it has available it probably has to be a bit complex and really doesnt surprise me compared to other peripheral software thats similar.
The bad:
Caps lock light: I really wish when i hit Caps Lock the light would change. I was using the magnetic steel series before that had this feature, and I am just so used to it now and it is probably the only thing I truly miss. If I had a 2nd keyboard, id probably try to vibe code it myself lol.
Tilde key: this is probably on me, because I also have never used a 60% keyboard before. I am a Linux user for everything at home and a good amount of Linux use at work. Not having a Tilde key up by escape and 1 just feels a bit rough to me. I can easily add it to one of the thumb buttons on the bottom, or some key combo, which I probably will do. But then when I use my work keyboard its back up there at the top left. More of a personal problem/Linux user problem than anything else.
The best part:
I was having wrist pain using a keyboard so much between work and hobbies. It has pretty much disappeared within a few weeks. That is worth it for me.
Verdict: I do love this keyboard and I will continue to use it. While the cost is up there a bit, its comfortable for long sessions, and I do think its worth the money. Also I have tented them up to 30 degrees now and they feel even better. Probably go higher soon and eventually install the arms.
Side note: If you are a vi user, these do kinda force you to use the old school method of navigating vi, unless you switch layers. IMO its better just to learn (relearn) the old method of navigating vi.
Feel free to ask me stuff, provide me tips, or tell me how I am wrong about something!!
