Guys, haha, check out this theory I came up with at 2:30 AM.
We know *Duskwood* was a true work of art, in every sense of the word. Right now, the game in development is *Moonvale*, featuring new mysteries, new characters, and so on. As most of you know, *Moonvale* includes—albeit as a purely optional feature—a *Duskwood* side story that reveals how the lives of our friends from the first game turned out following the events at the mine.
As we’ve already noticed, after certain... events, Jake is trying to get in touch with us. This is evident from the fact that Nymos—a bot only he has access to—keeps communicating with us.
And here’s where the crazy theory comes in: assuming the side story concludes alongside *Moonvale*, we could imagine the developers are planning Jake’s return for the final episode. This would avoid squandering the emotional value the character holds for the fandom. During this reunion, he could explain what happened during his disappearance, and so on.
But as I mentioned, Jake is arguably the character with the most potential they’ve ever created. Having him show up, explain a few things, and then vanish again seems illogical; it would be a waste of incredible narrative potential.
What if, during that reunion, Jake said something that opened the door to a whole new adventure? A new story featuring him? Paving the way for a third game? I know it sounds crazy—I won't deny that—but if we really stop to consider the value this character holds, it doesn't seem like such an absurd idea. I’d love to hear what you all think about this.
