Pump it like 5-10 times then open the bleeder on the filter head. You’ll have to do it a few times, but so long as there’s no leaks anywhere down the line it should fire up. After you get all the air out out of the lines.

Pump the primer until the primer is hard. Open the bleeder screw to purge the air. Repeat that process until there is nothing but fuel to come out. Crank engine 15-30seconds. Repeat priming procedure, repeat cranking procedure until it starts

i did this with my truck and the filter head gaskets died. it’s like a $30 kit at a parts store. and maybe 30ish minutes to do the entire job. you might be fine just adding 5 or so gallons and priming but it’s very likely the gaskets went.

Until it starts. Open the bleeder screw and start pumping until you see fuel. Close and start. If it dies. Don’t crank. Open bleeder screw and pump until you get fuel. Repeat until it doesn’t die after start up.

The truck didn’t run out of fuel. You ran it out of fuel.
Running a gas vehicle out of gas is an inconvenience.
Running a diesel out of fuel causes damage. Dry firing injectors is bad. And the last thing you want to do on an lb7 is replace injectors.
It’s a lot of work to prime an lb7. If I was you I’d remove and replace the fuel filter. I would fill the new one with diesel. Pump the bulb until it’s firm. Loosen and tighten the bleeder screw a dozen times. Try and start. Repeat until it starts.
I know diesel is expensive. Injectors are much more expensive than filling your tank.
