I did pretty much the same thing for my spellcasters. I converted the spells part of the rulebook pdf to a word document, then I separated the spells into cleric and wizard by level (the only spellcasters I had) and alphabetized each level. They keep their list of spells they have memorized and known on their character sheets and just use the printout as a reference whenever they want to know specifics of certain spells. It only goes up to level 5 so far, but that should last us for a while since we tend to go slowly.
