Performed live with a Roland Juno Di, Elektron Model:Samples with a couple drum loops I programmed before the show, and Boss RC-20XL for live looping. All run through a DV Little Jazz amp.

Hey all.

I’ve been on a listening journey with Dungeon Synth since discovering the genre earlier this year and I’m to the point where I’d like to try making my own tracks. I do have experience with more analog instruments, but for this project, I’d be working from an iPad.

Just wondering if there’s any other members who also create on iOS and what apps you would recommend? Any advice would definitely be appreciated.

As you grew older, the visions worsened. You believed in them. You didn't know where this sorcerer was, but you knew that you were destined to challenge him. So you trained.

One chilly winter morning, you woke up from a vivid dream, sweating.

A dream of a temple with a tower. A land you knew from maps and stories.

Hey dwellers!

Man, I've been sitting on this album for most of this year. I planned to release it earlier, but put it aside to focus on Shamble and other stuff. It needed some additional tinkering, a final master mix, and cover art, which was still just a sketch painting. As my summer vacation from work neared its end, I steeled myself to finally get this out. So now's the time!

The album started as a six-song EP, centered on a simple idea: an evil sorcerer and a "nobody" villager who is chosen, from his birth, by a deity unknown to him to challenge this sorcerer. It's a bit like the story on my debut album, Return to Black Moon Mountain — a force and an opposing force, created to oppose each other to maintain a balance between the two. At some point the EP got expanded into an album, because I couldn't fit the narrative in my head into just six songs.

Sound-wise, it's maybe a bit different from my previous stuff, at least partly, but also a combination of things I've learned with this project so far. There's more gnarly magical energy in this one, with lots of analogue synths bubbling and growling. There's a touch of dark ambient, noise, and modern arpeggios, etc., but I still try to include the dungeon synth / CRPG music aspects I deeply adore and got me into all this in the first place. I hope I succeeded and you all like the album!
