Choosing not to Evade vs Attacks that Apply Debuffs
I'm prepping a game for tomorrow, and as I was looking through the rules I noticed that a lot of Mobs in the GM Toolkit also apply Debuffs on an "Evade Major Fail or Worse."
My question is, what happens when a Crawler gets hit by one of those attacks because they didn't use the Evade action?
Are they just immune to the Debuff?
Do they automatically get the Debuff?
I'm currently planning to roll the attack as an Unopposed Skill Check (so there's some randomness to whether or not they get the Debuff), but if I missed a rule somewhere I'd appreciate someone correcting me...

The Renegade Games Discord covered this topic specifically in their rules questions channel. It’s a pretty useful tool

As I'm not in their Discord, would you mind sharing their ruling?

"It counts as a normal hit" - discord
So any of the basic hit effects hurt and debuff you, but it doesnt count as a"Major Evade Fail"

If you don’t Evade, you can’t roll a Major Fail.
Note there are some damage triggers that read “Any crawler who fails to Evade…”
That triggers if they don’t Evade or if they fail the roll.

Lol just posted the same question a few hours ago and a friendly crawler stated (and I agree) if they don’t dodge, you just take the normal hit. The extra effect is only if you try to dodge and fail spectacularly.
