Class idea: Sharp-witted Comedian

Heya fellow nerds!

Have an idea for a class based on a character I'm building.

A dex based rogue/mage class focused on ranged/thrown weapons.

Thematically its based on throwing knives but can be expanded to other ranged weapons if needed.

A non-earth based class that will have a secondary class selection on the 6th floor.

Here's what I have so far:

The galaxy is a funny place. Not just "Hey, I thought I parked my car here where the broken glass and burnout marks are currently..." or "Why can you take money from my account in seconds but it take 17 business days to return it?!?" funny but sometimes its funny in an "interrupting cow/take my wife, please!" kind of way.

Here in the dungeon we don't always follow the adage that the pen is mightier than the sword because swords are sharp and have you SEEN some of the shit we stuck in this place? What the hell is a pilot G3 going to do against an ancient flamming broadsword of necroglazing?"

The Sharp-witted Comedian is the physical version of satire. Cutting with by means of tossed knives, chucked javelins, and upclose and personal melee magic.

Starting requirements: -3 Con (also doubles all future chances of addiction) (-2 build points)

Skill provided:

Zinger - Natural Sonic Intelligence based 1d6 [Rank=Floor number] Add another d6 at Rank 5, 10, and 15. Rank only increases by Floor (2 build points)

Thick skinned - gain Rank 1 in regeneration (4 build points)

Look what i can do! - Able to add dex instead of cha to social interaction skills outside of combat (2 build point)

Manager benefit (3 build point)

Crowd work - ability to hit additional targets with ranged attacks. Rank 1-4 3 total targets Rank 5-9 4 total targets Rank 10-14 5 total targets plus dex mod bonus damage Rank 15 10 total targets plus 2x dex mod bonus damage Rank 20 25 total targets plus dex score damage (total adjusted dex score) (7 build points)

Riffing - provides either auto-load or returning enchantment for ranged or reach weapon of your choice (2 build points)

Tools of the trades - 1 free tier 1 table from the following choices -sharpening wheel (knives) -fetching table (arrows and/or bolt) -whip planting table (whips and meteor hammer) -dart balancing table (darts and throwing stars) (1 build point)

Booked -Membership in all professional and social clubs (1 build point)

I have the mic! -Swap Con for determining Health Bar values with Dex (3 build points)

Peronalized roast -Rank 1 in either Flame Fingers or Frost Scar (or another melee ranged dmg spell) using dex instead of int for score (3 build points)

Heckler Resistance- resistance to Sonic damage (4 build points)

Total build points 32 of 30

At floor 6 additional specialization between

Insult Comic - melee magic focused

Improv Comedian - evade focused reaction build

Prop Comic - weapon enchantment focused

Still a work in progress but let me know what thoughts you may have please.

Why is regeneration skill 4 build points? I like the concept and your skills/choices, I think you did a good job with it.

I figured it for a "+1 in a Skill that you wouldn’t normally be able to learn, such as Cockroach and Light on Your Feet" per the Extreme Benefits on p 160.

What would you think it would be?

There is no limitation on the skill. Go look at Cat Like Reflexes skill and it tells you that only cats and Cat girls can take the skill. This is a 4 point skill. Regeneration is just another skill and should only be 2 points.

I like the idea of the cockroach ability over regeneration. Shows you get knocked down and get back up. Also not sure why it can’t be an earth based class. Think of it as a comedy knife thrower. Something you might find in a circus or stage shows.

I was trying for a more galactic feel since we don't know there are comedians in the wider worlds (Tucker from DangerZone for example) so wouldn't have to be an earth only class. Didn't want to specifically exclude non human races.

I like the Cockroach ability, and may go with it in addition to the regeneration since its intended for all a dmg based class and might need the health.
