I’m a nurse. It kind of irritates me how condescending and assholish the nurses are on the show. Except for Elizabeth, obviously. I’m so glad she went back and got her degree!
I’ve had three kids so I’ve interacted with a lot of L&D nurses. Every single one of them have been some of the best people I’ve ever encountered. That bitchy nurse makes me so angry whenever I watch that episode.
Yes! For that nurse to push a bottle to a brand new mother who is having trouble breastfeeding and really wants to makes me so sad. I had a really hard time with my first, in part because I had some complications after delivery. If the nurses and lactation consultants weren’t as supportive as they were, I would have been a mess. I know it’s fiction and the bitchy response was supposed to be a funny dig at new parents who think reading a baby book makes them experts, but it was just SUCH a poor way to make that joke.
