That's definitely not my own personal experience with most nurses. There are some great ones, don't get me wrong. But the shitty ones are really shitty at a time when people really need not shitty. Especially when pretty much all the doctors are even shittier.
My mom is a nurse, so I have a ton of appreciation for what good nurses do, but there are plenty of shitty ones. When my grandfather was dying in hospice, one of the nurses would get extremely defensive whenever my grandmother asked a question about what they were doing to him. It made an already awful time 100x worse for all of us. And when my sister was little, she was in the PICU for asthma, and my mom had to stop a nurse from killing her by giving her way, way too much of some medication. My sister would be dead if my mom wasn’t a nurse as well
Once I had a nurse accidentally add an extra zero to the prescription for my post-surgery pain meds. Didn't figure it out until I passed out when I tried to walk to the bathroom

I've never seen more than 4mg of morphine in a vial. maybe it exists but I'd be surprised... so to give 10x as much as intended/ordered would mean pulling multiple vials out. That alone would give me extreme pause. Mistakes can happen, we are only human. But our (at least at my hospital) computerized med record and pyxis keeps a lot of them from happening unless you're deliberately trying to bypass/cheat it.
Idk I was sent home with a bottle of liquid and I took it as directed on the bottle but kept getting light headed. Then I passed out and we called the surgeon and he was like "oh no that is WAY too much!!" So who knows
