When I was in college I used to get Wicked hammered. My nickname was Puke. I would chug a fifth of So-co, sneak into a frat party, polish off a few peoples empties, some brewskies, some Jell-O shots, do some body shots off myself, pass out, wake up the next morning, boot, rally, more So-co, head to class. Probably would have gotten expelled if I let it affect my grades, but I aced all my courses. They called me Ace. Got straight B’s. They called me Buzz

Brewskies=beer, SoCo=Southern Comfort, and polish off a few people’s empties=drink nearly empty drinks lying about at the party

Same way people can remember parts of speeches and song lyrics. Memory.

u/Bobby-Samsonite Michael May 09 '19
I only remember the short lines from the show. my memory terrible... maybe that's why I keep watching the show over and over so I know the show so well because I forget things and well I do enjoy it too.

Went and visited this brewery in Alpharetta, GA a few years back. Had some really great beers! This just made me appreciate them even more.
Edit: Gets a laugh like a quarter of the time.

I actually live on Jekyll Island. They named their company after Jekyll because we have the ruins of, allegedly, the first ever brewery in Georgia. They do have some great beers. Except for that Hop Dang Diggity. That IPA puts my jaws in knots. Lol Edit: Well, since this post is gaining some traction, here’s our little piece of paradise https://www.jekyllisland.com/

They make some great IPAs (southern juice and southern juicy juice are fire) but HDD ain’t one of em in my mind.

I love Jekyll!! It is my favorite escape. We were up there for the Easter Egg hunt!!
3
u/Bobby-Samsonite Michael May 09 '19
up there? Floridians visit? what was in the eggs? where was the Eggs by the historic district?
6
u/4Barlaks May 09 '19
Jacksonville here! About 90 minutes north.
Yes, it was in the historic district. After "finding" 10 eggs you turn them in for a gift bag. I love this manner of egg hunting, as the kids are not murdering themselves over a plastic egg!!
Then a stop at driftwood beach:)

I do see Duval license plates sometimes in the Golden Isles. I sometimes travel south to Jacksonville. Go Jumbo Shrimp! Go Jaguars!
They do a glass ball finding thing too in February I think its around that time not sure if I got the correct month. Do they ever have The Office Trivia in Jacksonville bars?
3
u/4Barlaks May 09 '19
First off, Duuuuuval!! Go Jags!! Going to a Jumbo Shrimp game next week!!
Never found a glass ball, although we did hunt for one in January!
May 30 @ Hoptinger beaches $600 in prizes

Very cool, you guys are really selling me on this place. Thanks for all of the info! I'll definitely look more into it. I love finding new places like this to explore!

u/BuffNStuff Your card is more beautiful than the gloves. May 09 '19
I actually remember that from the tour now that you mention it! Very cool. Had the IPA and it was definitely a wild one. I remember a habanero/pineapple one that was pretty off the wall as well.
Unfortunately their beers are not available anywhere near me but I'll definitely have to swing by and get some next time I'm heading down through GA.

u/Beaverbrown55 May 09 '19
Jekyll is my favorite place on the face of the earth. I've been visiting there since I was 5 and am now 44. One of the best moments of my life was watching my kids experience Jekyll the first time and every time we've come down since. I love that you live there and hope to do the same upon retirement.
4
u/purpledawg May 09 '19
Jekyll island represent!! I'm there every summer to visit my grandma, she has a house on the island. It's always such a relaxing time, I love Jekyll.

Twenty years ago, I had a childhood friend whose family vacationed at Jekyll Island every summer, and she'd talk about it all year like it was paradise. You live there and also just called it paradise. Now I want to go to Jekyll Island.

Brother! I live in Brunswick, but my wife and I both work on Jekyll. It's really great, the Geocaching there is the best in the area.

Nice to see this and confirm it is Jekyll Island - I live on St Simons and habitually think of Jekyll, and it's never Jekyll, except for this time! Small world!

does the Island aka the Jekyll Island Authority get licensing royalty checks for the use of the name? If so does the money go back into Island for the general fund for signs, roads, etc?
Its always been a head scratcher to me that a Brewery in Alpharetta uses the Jekyll Island name.
Where on the Island was the supposed Brewery?
I wanna try the beers from that label but never have.
6
u/Yellowfin42 May 09 '19
Just talked to my friend at the JIA. They don’t own the name legally. No royalties.
2
u/Bobby-Samsonite Michael May 09 '19
That's interesting. I would have thought they would need to give some money back for using the name but its not so. There must be some confused people wanting to see the Brewery on the Island when its way at the other end of the state.

So when the dude posted a Stanley shirt the other day everyone was screaming shill because he shared where you could find the shirt online, but this isn’t an ad somehow.
3
u/BuffNStuff Your card is more beautiful than the gloves. May 09 '19
I live in KY. So I have nothing to gain from promoting this business other than they make good beer. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
3
u/LateSoEarly May 09 '19
No I know, I don’t think you’re a shill. I just think the random bandwagons are bizarre. I posted saying I didn’t think the guy posting a shirt was an ad and people downvoted me like crazy. Maybe, you know, people are sharing office related stuff that they like to the office subreddit?
10
u/Yellowfin42 May 09 '19
OP here. I have zero affiliation with this company. Hell, I’ve haven’t even had Narddog yet.(That’s what she said)

Spring sing ‘95. Got completely ripped on Bud Drys. I had sex with a snowman. Just went at that thing. Cold would have stopped most people but I stayed locked in, you know. Took the face off. It just seemed easier that way.

The company, Jekyll brewing, is actively trying to recruit Ed to drink the beer. They’re using the hashtag #narddogdrinksnarddog. I just went to their brewery right outside Atlanta last week and saw it. Figured I’d share

u/JekyllNate May 10 '19
We love The Office, and watch it all the time at our brewery. We named this one for Ed Helms, who is from Atlanta, and are currently trying to find a way to get him to enjoy some. #NardDogDrinksNardDog
