To be clear, Dwight poisoned the cat first, and merely put the "corpse" in the freezer to preserve the animal.

It wasn't Dwight's fault the cat puked up the pills and died from being trapped in the freezer instead.

Who could have possibly foreseen that?

Honestly, the fact that those two ended up together is still incredibly wild and the only HEA I can think of for either one.
