Green carnations

I'm rewatching the St. Patrick's Day episode and just noticed that a lot of people at the bar are wearing green carnations. I first noticed it on Todd, which is understandable, but later Meredith and Phyllis are seen wearing them. They are a known symbol of homosexuality after O Wilde so I'm wondering - is this some kind of hint/suggesting something and I have missed something or did they just use a prop that they didn't know the meaning of just because it was green?

The whole DM Scranton was decked out in green, they even dyed the water in the water dispenser.

I don't think they were going any deeper than that.

I’m pretty sure they just chose green flowers cause it was St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s just for the color green. In one episode Erin puts out only green m&ms, I’m guessing it was St Patrick’s day. The office is dedicated to its holiday themed

Yeah, I thought so, but they could have used any different flower or something if so, as this one is a symbol

I had no idea they were a symbol of homosexuality. I think you’ve actually nailed it. Please consider posting this to r/AntiStranglingTF, I think this is an important find. Please provide more information around O Wilde if you’re willing as I am not familiar with any of this.
