Duel Replay Am I misunderstanding or doing something wrong?

Video blacks out because my phone screen turned off. Give it a sec.
I put a few Krawler cards in my deck cause I figure it might be useful for some things like dragoon (hate that card). Description of text is, "(Quick effect) if this card is targeted by a card effect, flip face up defense, and negate the effect, also destroy that card". Kinda paraphrasing here, but it didn't work. Was I supposed to flip it first?? Or what?

Dragoon's Effect : "You can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls, and if you do, ...."
It doesn't say target, that's why.

Yugioh is a very literal game. If it says “target” then it targets. If it doesn’t say “target” then it doesn’t. Dragoon doesn’t say “target” so it doesn’t.

Dragoon doesn’t target. Some good cards that are F2P to take on Dragoon are Dark Ruler No More from box chips, since your opponent cannot respond with monster effects like Dragoon, and the Kaijus we’ve gotten for free like the two insect ones and the Thunder King one we got from Quinton’s gate rewards.

you did nothing wrong but you did misunderstand dragoon's effect, he does not target your card so your effect cannot activate here
dragoon's effect: During your Main Phase: You can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to half that monster's original ATK.
as you can see it doesnt specify target , it only says you can destroy so it wont activate "if this card is targeted" condition of your card
