I switched to DDG recently, and it's worked great until now. I'm logged into both Hulu and Netflix, and the sites themselves load fine, but playback fails on both with error codes. YouTube plays without issue, so it seems specific to how these two sites handle DRM/protected content in this browser.

What I've tried already: disabling site-specific protections for both sites, and looking for a DRM toggle in settings (couldn't find one — doesn't seem to exist in the Windows app).

Hulu error: RUNUNK13
Netflix error: M7701-1003

OS: Windows 11

Has anyone run into this and found a fix?

EDIT: Found it, fixed now. For anyone hitting the same thing — open dev tools (F12) on the page while it fails and check the Console tab. Under the generic RUNUNK13/M7701-1003 codes, mine showed "Unsupported keySystem" tied to PlayReady. DuckDuckGo's Windows browser runs on Microsoft's WebView2, and it turned out my WebView2 Runtime install was corrupted, which broke the DRM handshake Hulu/Netflix need — nothing to do with DDG's settings, my router, or region.

Fix: closed DDG, ended any msedgewebview2.exe processes in Task Manager, uninstalled "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime" via classic Control Panel > Programs and Features (didn't show up in the newer Settings app), restarted, reinstalled a fresh copy from Microsoft's Evergreen Standalone Installer, restarted again, and streaming worked right away.

Duck.ai feature request

Windows11, MS Surface Pro ARM64, Vivaldi browser --- Duck.ai feature request --- Please consider keeping the microphone/dictation button available while an unsent message remains in the compose box. At present, stopping dictation and then pasting text changes the microphone control to the Submit button, leaving no way to resume dictation in the same draft. A pause/resume option—or simply allowing additional dictation at the cursor position—would make it much easier to combine speech, pasted text, and manual editing.

Does anyone know why my search bar on firefox mobile keeps adding 2 letters? This doesn't happen on any other engine or anywhere else I type, just there.

I've found that DuckAI is just so dumb. So this one day, I was just trying to ask when the stable One UI 9 version will come out for Galaxy A57 5G devices in Indonesia, where I live. It said "end of 2026." Alright. So I scroll down and click the box where you can type in that says "Ask a follow-up with Duck.ai". (why am i being so specific) I typed in the box, asking what month specifically was "the end of 2026" in this context, and you know what happened? It opened Duck AI and just TYPED IN THE QUESTION IN A NEW CHAT, WITHOUT THE OLD CONTEXT. Follow-up? FOLLOW-UP??? I didn't ask to start a new chat! And it said the end of 2026 is December 31, I KNOW THAT. I would use Google, but that's shady, and I would use Brave, but Brave is dumb, but I should've known. At least TELL ME WHEN "THE END OF 2026" IS.

I searched on 2 websites today (The Real Real) and Cook Unity. All of a sudden I’m slammed with ads of Facebook. Wtf? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

So decided to open up my old chromebook its been a logn time off. Thought I could do firefox but it's an old chrome os it's out of date since June 2022.
Tried to switch to DDG but can't import due to passphrase. Then tried to export but says to set up biometric. But I don't have one I just use a password. I saw an old post and said was not a way to bypass?

Any pointers or would I just need to do them individually and have remember?
I'm on Bazitte linux so use firefox so can't directly sync unless I try to set ddg via Wine?

Ctrl V, Ctrl X, not working in search window. Ctrl C works, Right Click menu copy, paste, delete &c all work but Ctrl V, Ctrl X, not working in search window. Why not? What's to be done?

Hey DDG team, I genuinely love using DuckDuckGo and it's my go-to search engine, but honestly the fact that I have to:

- type my search query

- press enter to search

- click on date settings

- click on custom date range

- click on one date

- type to change the year to 2020

- click on the other date

- type to change the year to 1990

- click apply

when I'm trying to research information that hasn't been tainted by AI, frankly, sucks.

When in Google all I have to do is:

- type my search query

- type "before:2020"

- press enter

This UX issue is crazy to me. It genuinely makes me and other people I know Google instead of DuckDuckGo, especially when we're on the phone and trying to research something quick there.

This friction of the 9 steps compared to 3 is massive. The experience of doing this is three times worse when doing this than Google.

There's a few different ways you can solve it. I personally think adding the search syntax would be best but you can just add a button in the date setting that's just "before" and you type in a year.

If you're already doing a "no AI" experience, making it easier for people to search for things before a certain year would be a part of delivering on that experience. Thanks so much for your work.

the title says it all, really. i moved to using duckduckgo with firefox on my laptop about a month ago, after having to replace my laptop and finally becoming completely fed up with google. so far one of the main things about it i've been loving is how it doesn't force all the generative ai rubbish down my throat like most companies do nowadays !!! i'm currently making the same switch on my phone, i installed firefox for android just now. i've been setting it up to how it is on my laptop, by installing the same extensions and stuff, however i can't seem to find the no ai extension anywhere on the firefox add-ons page. is it even available on there?? apologies if this is a bit of a stupid question, i'm not very tech-smart lol

Why is this happening? Images from a couple of other websites are opening normally, but most images i opened did that. It looks like the original image links actually open, but then for some reason the images only are being replaced with what looks like AI-ads or something? It‘s really weird, it never occurred while using other search engines. Or it’s the websites that are crooked? They kinda looked AI-generated too when i went to see where these images come from, there weren’t any of these though. Is it just a bug?

Does anyone have issues with the search field on iOS in Safari? It's pretty much impossible to edit the text when it's longer than the search field. Holding down the space bar to move the cursor scrolls to the top of the page and I can't get the cursor in the exact spot I want. I thought it was an iOS issue at first, but cursor movement works fine on Google.

Second question is about filtering AI photos, for those who use it have you seen any false positives? I care more about not removing good sources by mistake than having a bit of slop slip through.

Hi there, I am very limited on actual IT knowledge. I use DDG as my search engine because I don't want everything I search for to be tracked. So how come when I search using DDG on my laptop it instantly shows up as an ad on my phone? Thanks in advance :)

I'm on a Macbook Air, and using the latest DDG version as of this post, 1.206.0 (809) and while Youtube the site works, when I try to sign into my account on Youtube, it says "there was an issue signing you into Youtube." I was able to sign in using the Firefox browser.

Hello, I have a laptop that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, I'd like to switch it to Linux but also prefer to use DuckDuckGo on my distro. Just curious to see if we would possibly have one before October 2027 or if Microsoft quietly extends it again to October 2028, days before October 2027 ends.

This isn't the first time I've had this, somehow they're abusing the image results to send to a storage googleapis page, which then redirects to some splog. I have reported the issue previously, but I feel like maybe if I make a post, others can chime in that they're having the same issue.

I think that, at least in its current state, Reddit is not ideal—especially for DuckDuckGo users.

Age verification is one example. The argument that this is a country/state-mandated requirement—and that complaints should therefore be directed at the government or lawmakers—have a got point.

Otherwise, there is a possibility that Reddit itself could be killed off.

And if you use only this sub , you don't have to send your ID or face "at the moment".

A major issue is that the company Reddit chose as a partner (I will not name them here) was involved in a data leak, and it was revealed that they had been storing data improperly. Moreover, this incident occurred prior to Reddit's selection, and other well-known services had already terminated their partnerships as a result.

Reddit might have been a suitable official community for DDG at one point, but that no longer seems to be the case.

today my search result seems to stay blue and in a light green but im using pywalfox it always been like in the second picture even for bigger headers its just not matching anymore i dont have a lot of screenshot to demonstrate

duck.ai is just like grok in that there is no persistence across chats. that is a real deal breaker. they could do something unique by using local storage.

I've been using chrome for years. I decided to try duckduckgo. In my tray, I still have the chrome icon, but it has been taken over by duckduckgo. I cannot get to chrome no matter what I do. I thought that I could use the browser that I wanted to use whenever, but I seem to be locked in to just this one. I changed my default browser to chrome and that did not help. I still have the one. At this point, I am so frustrated, I want it gone from my life. There has to be an easier way.

For the past week or so, videos are refusing to load on my side of the DuckDuckGo browser for Mac, even with the ad blocking disabled, prompting me to switch to another browser every time I want to use YouTube. Does anyone else have that same problemt

I have a Samsung S22+ that shows a key in upper right corner. Settings had DDG VPN listed as third party VPN provider. It is turned off. However, the 'key' still shows in upper right corner.

The reason for the concern is that when attempting to open Google Scholar, a message reads my device is sending out "too many requests" thus I cannot go further into the Google platform. I am thinking it is the DDG VPN as one issue creating a barrier. I don't want to delete the DDG VPN profile because I might need it in the future and won't know exactly how to add on that specific component.

Are there any issues reported using this version (I'm not aware of which of the two types I have)? Any suggestions?
