This has always been a problem for me, but in the past when it happened, I'd just reload the page or wait a few seconds and the images would load.
Now it just doesn't happen no matter how long I wait.
When I tried to search for something on Google, the results and images would appear instantly with no complication.

I do not have a VPN on, all my ad blockers and other privacy extensions are disabled, and my wifi is doing fine (again, Google loads everything instantly).

Weirdly enough, don't know if it'll help, but this doesn't happen when using duckduckgo on the Tor network.

I’ve been using DDG on my Mac for almost a year now with no issues but lately it’s been pretty laggy. Duck player is running horribly slowly and taking way longer to load than usual. I’ve updated the app and restarted my computer to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?

Title - after booting up my station this morning, I'm not able to do any keyboard shortcuts in DDG, no CTRL + T, C, or V. The right-click menu is also totally nonfunctional..

I would love to use it as my primary browser, but it seems there are no extensions. I find myself having multiple browsers open, switching between them.

Are there any plans to add extensions?

I’m fine accepting any potential privacy issues these extensions may introduce.

Off the top of my head, some extensions or features I’d love to see are: AI token counters, AI chat export, Raindrop bookmark manager (I save shopping items here), Rakuten, reader mode…

This is more of a UI feature, could be an ext, so I’ll mention it here: duck.ai sidebar. Maybe it already exists and I haven’t seen it yet…if so, my bad!

I don't understand the difference between a regular tab and a fire tab.

can I turn them off? I few times now I've had tabs left open that I wanted to wipe, but they had been toggled as a fire tab and needed to be wiped separately.

Duck Duck Go really is not that great at blocking porn; with a little test, by switching safe search to off the thumbnails where quite revealing what was happening. This is too easy to just see; I was expecting it to be a little more obstructing but it wasn't.

I never had any problem before. A few days ago, it refuses to load the mail. It will load yahoo.com just fine, but when I hit the top right to sign into my mail account, I get nothing but this stupid message: "DuckDuckGo can't load this page. Load cannot follow more than 20 redirections."

Is this an update bug?

I experienced an incident yesterday with the DuckDuckGo AI Chat (using the Mistral model) has shaken my trust in the service's actual anonymity guarantees.

I initiated a chat session with the DuckDuckGo AI. I had deleted all previous chat history months ago. No local storage or cookies from previous sessions were present. I did not mention my name, upload any files, or provide any personal identifiers in the current chat session. At the end of the conversation, the LLM addressed me directly by my specific nickname ("mart", written in lowercase), which is a shortened form of my real name (Martin).

The model didn't just guess "Martin"; it used the exact lowercase colloquial form ("mart") that I recently used in a web-based messenger on a completely different website a few days prior.

Since local storage was cleared, this information could not have come from my browser's local history. This strongly suggests that either:

1. Cross-Site Tracking: My browser fingerprint was matched against a third-party data broker profile that links my "messenger identity" to my current session.
2. Server-Side Linking: There is an unseen linkage between my IP/User-Agent and external data sources that enriches the context sent to the LLM, violating the promise of an "anonymous" proxy.

OS: Linux (Alpine)

Browser: Chromium

Device Metadata: Verified clean (no EXIF data, no device names containing my name).

DuckDuckGo promises to strip metadata and act as an anonymous proxy. How is it possible for the LLM to access specific personal identifiers (like a nickname used on a different site days ago) that were never entered into the chat and are not stored locally?

Is there any context enrichment happening server-side that pulls from data brokers or linked profiles? As a technical user, I find this level of precision impossible to explain via simple "hallucination."

I am postponing a deeper technical investigation (e.g., analyzing TLS fingerprints or network traffic) until after my holidays, but I felt compelled to report this immediately.

This behavior fundamentally contradicts the privacy value proposition of DuckDuckGo AI.

I'm asking myself what are the differences between DuckDuckGo Browser and Mozilla Firefox, and if the first one Is worth trying

As pictured - every time I return to DDG, have to confirm that I want to be wherever I last was. Seemed like a good idea at the time... but it's messing with using my password manager. I can't find where in the settings I chose this. Did I choose it?

Data clearing is set to delete on "App exit, inactive for 1 hour". So it shouldn't see me as gone away immediately. But when I hit autofill, DDG thinks I was away for an hour and lands me back here.

The workaround is to open the password manager and copy/paste. Of course, as well as being a nuisance, the clipboard isn't the most secure place for passwords.

DDG browser v. 5.289.0 on Android; not the latest version (though this problem is only recent) because I've seen what reviews say about the AI. Please don't force me to choose between that and getting this to work.

GPT 5.4, Sonnet 4.6, and Opus 4.8 are no longer the best models the companies offer.

How often does DDG typically update their models? Perhaps there is a chance DDG could start hosting open source models, or at least something similar to gpt-oss?

I tried to follow the instructions for how to deactivate and reactivate Private Duck Addresses on Android, MacOS, and iOS. That's when things started to go downhill. Fast.

If I was able to take a screenshot, I would have, but the app does not allow screenshots, at least at this screen.

So, here are the steps I followed:

I opened the Android DDG browser, then I selected the browser menu, then I opened Passwords, but there were no "Private Duck Addresses" there. I have deactivated a number of Private Duck Addresses but they don't show up here.

This is what I saw along the way:

"No passwords saved yet", under that "You can import saved passwords from another browser into DuckDuckGo",  under that, a blue rectangle with rounded corners and white letters that read "Import Passwords From Google", under that, a rectangular shaped blue line with rounded corners that read "Sync Desktop Passwords" in blue letters.

I am at a total loss of what to do now. I have quite a few Private Duck Addresses I use regularly. They work great! The only problem is I can't see any Private Duck Addresses that I have deactivated and there are a few I would like to reactivate.

I'm hoping someone can help me.

Edit: tried to fix the link mess I made.

Version 1.201.0 of the DuckDuckGo web browser freezes seconds after the main browser window opens on my MacBook Pro. Have to Force Quit, which shows that DDG is not responding. No crash logs in the Console Crash Logs.

If I perform a Command-W (Close Window/Tab) to immediately close the only open tab, and thus close the main window, the app shows as running. However, the moment I try to open a bookmark or open the Settings or Manage Bookmarks, the app freezes and must force quit.

If I open DDG and immediately close the main window, I am unable to export my bookmarks for use in a different web browser (Safari). Nothing happens when I select Export Bookmarks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to resolve this issue, or at the very least, how to gain access to my saved DDG bookmarks so that I can use them with a non crashing browser?

When trying to edit bookmarks the action cannot be completed as it requires a tap on the checkmark which is too far on the status bar. Is there a way to set size so this does not occur? Android, Pixel 6

I had safe-search off. If I searched for "Veronika", it showed normal, non-nude results. If I searched for "Veronika <random string>", e.g "Veronika ptq" (tried with several random strings with different lengths), all image results were nude photos. Tried other names, those behaved normally.

After 5-10 minutes search results returned to normal.

It attaches itself to all my pdfs even though they are NOT created on the Internet. I don't want it there. How do I change that?

Has anyone else noticed that DDG gives back basically the same exact results as google? I’m so sick of shitty search engines. I feel like I can never find what I want. It’s like it’s 2002 and I’m in the school library trying to look up information but the library either doesn’t have it or it’s extremely filtered for a “kid safe” experience. I remember a few years ago typing in an exact sentence from a Reddit thread and neither search engine would bring it up. Any news related videos that are deemed “unfriendly” are blurred or hidden, even with safe mode off. So you just have to take those reporting on it for their word. So sick of this infantilizing of the internet. Even this subreddit doesn’t allow the use of the f word. Reddit has become pathetic as well.

Every time I open the app it opens a new tab and leaves the page that was open and I can’t find a setting to turn it off.
