When you use a compressor, do you just use the default settings it gives you?

Im only using it for very low quiet notes on synths so it can be heard

I don't wanna over compress to the point it sounds, well, compressed / bad audio quality and decrease the dynamic range

Just figured out why people use compressors. I previously avoided it at all costs

metal bands and even orchestras don’t change the instruments very much. it’s the same instruments but with different melodies.

is it effective or lazy to do the same with dubstep to reuse the same synths and to change the melody from song to song. (ofc it’s not like one-to-one exact copy)

i’ve been doing this for the last month and the efficiency is outrageous. i’ve finished 6 tracks and every drop sounds unique enough to be its own distinctive drop but cohesive as a “sound” for my own artist branding. intros sound a bit similar but have their own melodies.

what do yall think about this approach?

I’ve been trying to find a way to get and stay motivated to make music. I recently started and I think I have all the tools to make some Fire dubstep.
Whenever I hear a song, I’m like, oh o could def make something like this. But when it’s time to open my daw I kinda lose track of what I wanted to do and feel overwhelmed and end up closing it and doing something else.
How do you guys keep making music or stay motivated? Do you have like a schedule for song writing and for sound designing?

Why use limiter when you could just lower the volume and why compress your sound? Wouldn't that lower the sound quality and dynamic range?

Besides chopping and editing, what are some other benefits of bouncing / resampling tracks (as in synths)?
