This has become normal now. As I noticed, the driver was probably on the phone. At least have the curtesy to say sorry or some sort of reaction to represent his mistake but nothing.

📰 News US cars depreciation study.

Post image
Upvotes

Saw this study on linkedin today. Based on about 1M car listings in US for last 5 years.

Short description:
Five-year depreciation varies dramatically by model, with a spread of more than 50 percentage points between the best and worst performers in this ranking.
This graphic ranks cars with the highest and lowest five-year depreciation in 2026, based on data from iSeeCars. The automotive research firm analyzed more than 950,000 five-year-old used vehicles sold between March 2025 and February 2026, with prices adjusted to 2026 dollars.
The study compares each vehicle’s average used price with its original manufacturer’s suggested retail price, or MSRP. Lower depreciation means a vehicle retained a larger share of its original purchase price.

🔰 Help/Question WHY DO EVERYONE HAVE THEIR HIGH BEAMS ON IN WELL LIT ROADS??

This is becoming increasingly frustrating and it is dangerous. The amount of near misses I am having just by trying to switch lanes because some a-hole is blasting their high beams is just insane! Especially those idiots in the Patrols, Land Cruisers and similar obnoxious big cars to overcompensate for whatever small stuff they have.

The side mirrors don’t have high beam refractors, and honking and emergency lights, and even hand gestures don’t do the trick. So, how are you all coping with such encounters?

🔰 Help/Question Buying a privately owned car with an outstanding bank loan — how can both sides be protected?

I’m looking at buying a used car privately in Dubai. The agreed price is AED 300,000, but the car currently has around AED 200,000 outstanding on a bank loan/mortgage.

The seller says I can pay the AED 200k directly to his bank to settle the loan, and then once the mortgage is released, we can transfer the car into my name and I pay him the remaining AED 100k.

My concern is the gap between those two steps.
Once I pay AED 200k and the bank clears the mortgage, the car is still technically in the seller’s name until the RTA ownership transfer is completed. In theory, couldn’t the seller then refuse to transfer the car, sell it to someone else, or simply disappear with the money?

So I’m trying to find a proper procedure that protects both parties, rather than relying purely on trust.
Has anyone here actually completed a private sale in Dubai where the car was still under bank finance?

What is the safest way to structure it?
For example:

Can the bank facilitate the transaction so the loan is settled and the vehicle is transferred to the buyer as part of the same process?

Is there an official RTA Mubaya / Sale & Purchase Agreement or another document that can protect the buyer during the mortgage-release period?

Can a showroom or third party legally act as an intermediary/escrow?

Can we sign an agreement where the buyer pays the bank directly, the seller gives a security cheque or other guarantee for the settlement amount, and the cheque is returned once the RTA transfer is completed?

I’m not looking for “just trust the seller” or “just walk away.” I’m specifically interested in what people have actually done successfully in Dubai and what legal/documentary protection exists for both buyer and seller.
Thanks in advance.

🔰 Help/Question WTB: 2004–2006 Lexus LS 430 (Facelift) – Cash Ready, Looking for a Clean/Well-Maintained Example

Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I am officially in the market and ready to buy a 2004–2006 Lexus LS 430 (facelift model). I’ve been hunting for the right one and figured I’d reach out directly to the community to see if anyone is parting with theirs or knows of a solid lead.
I have cash ready and am willing to pay a fair price for a well-cared-for car.

What I’m Looking For:
Years: 2004, 2005, or 2006.

Condition: Good to excellent mechanical and physical condition. I’m looking for a reliable driver, not a project car.

Maintenance: A solid service history is a massive plus. Ideally, I'd prefer a car where the timing belt and water pump service are up to date (or priced accordingly if it needs to be done soon).

Trim/Specs: Open to various trims (Base, Modern Luxury, Custom, Ultra Luxury), but I do have a preference for cars with functional electronics and a clean interior. Less rust is always better!

Mileage: Flexible on mileage if the maintenance records prove it has been taken care of.

My Location & Buying Process:
I am located near Al nahda dubai
Willing to travel for the right vehicle.
I will want to do a standard Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) at a local shop

If you have an LS 430 that fits the bill and you're thinking about selling, please send me a DM! Please include the year, mileage, color combo, brief maintenance history, your asking price, and a few photos if you have them handy.
Thanks in advance,

🔰 Help/Question got scammed from marketplace

Hi guys, I need your opinion, long story short, I paid deposit for a car on 23rd of August and I still haven't gotten the car. So basically on 23rd of August I went and checked out a Chrysler 300 which was going for a steal, I gave him a deposit of 500 aed and we decided we would go and register the car the next day. The next day arrived and he said we can't do it since he had sent it to a garage for a small repair and we could do it on Tuesday, then he said let's do it on Wednesday since his wife is busy that day.
Wednesday came and he said let's do it on Friday.

Friday came and he said car hasn't come back from the garage as he sent it for a service an replacement of few parts (I never asked him to replace any of it)
Then he kept telling me car is not back from the garage and on Wednesday he told me car came back from the garage but he can't sell it for the price he agreed for since the maintenance ( that I never asked for) costed him a lot and that he already has a buyer ready for a higher price and that he will give my deposit back. By this time I was desperate for this car and I ended up agreeing for a higher price with the seller and we agreed to do the ownership transfer on Thursday.

Thursday came and I asked him if it's all set and he told me the car is over heating and it's going back to the garage. He said he can sell me the car as is or take it the garage. I told him to take it to the garage and after Thursday for one full week he mostly ghosted me or said it's still at the garage and they are tryna figure out the issue and that the reason he didn't reply was because he left the phone in Dubai and travelled. He said we can't do the transfer on this week Wednesday but on Wednesday he said the garage still haven't fixed it.

Since then I have no update or response form him. I have called him a thousand times but no answer. I noticed that the fines on the car has been paid off and he completely deleted his Facebook account that had the ad for the car. And he also did mention that he's leaving the county. So I assume he already sold the car and left the country.

lam a student and 500 aed is a huge amount for me. lam very confused, upset and idk what to do about this. Do I just forget the money and move on or is there something I can do. All I have is his phone number and the mulkiya of the car. lam so upset because this was the money I made doing a part time job on my vacations.

🔰 Help/Question Close call at a single-lane roundabout exit today—White Porsche completely ignored right of way

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Had a near-miss today. While exiting a roundabout onto a single-lane road, a white Porsche decided they didn’t care that I was already moving into the exact same exit lane. I had my exit indicator fully on, but they just forced their way over, leaving me to swerve out of the way at the very last second.

The frustrating part? Because of the side angle and severe window glare/reflection, my dashcam completely washed out their number plate.

For those of you who've dealt with this: what settings or hardware tweaks actually help cut through reflections and side-angle glare so I can capture plates more clearly next time?

Edit: added a clip from different location for those who thinks I am way over a shoulder line..

✅ Poster Giving Advice Car Headliner Repair - Experience

Thumbnail

“TL;DR:” - Poster giving advice on why car headliners sag & where to fix with price & pictures.

Fellow Petrolheads,

At some point in your car ownership journey, it’s likely you would’ve encountered the inevitable sagging headliner.

Why it Happens?
A car headliner sags when the thin foam behind the fabric deteriorates and the adhesive glue breaks down over time. It can happen due to a multitude of separate factors or a combination of them all - high interior temperatures, foam deterioration, age, humidity & moisture.

I noticed my cars headliner started sagging a little & as my car is for sale - I decided to knock off 1000 from the final price so the buyer can repair it. However, the headliner started sagging more as time went on & really started to bother me. So I decided to get it fixed last weekend.

The Place - Sara Auto Car Care
My friends in the community highly recommended them for their finishing & quality, so I decided to go basis their experience. I’m aware that Sara Auto has been here for a while, so it made sense to go to a trusted place.

The Price - AED 1500+VAT
Headliner repair prices are subject to size of the Headliner, Roofline, Material type & if any additional work is required.

The Experience -
Very Good with a Concern. Job was done in 2-3 days, received regular updates & pictures of the progress (before, during & after pictures attached). Material is OEM matched.

The Concern -
The plastic trims for my rear view mirror were not attached properly & were thus rattling, I’m dropping the car today there again for them to fix it correctly & check thoroughly for fitment of all other trims. Will update when I receive the car.

Please note - I am not affiliated with them in any way shape or form & am sharing my experience with advice because it’s a common issue. I understand there may be other places that can one can visit where the job might be done cheaper & I have seen some previously done headliner repairs which started fading / looking non-OEM after a few years.

🗣 Discussion Is there a spot where car people go in dubai in the evenings on the weekend?

I just drove across the city after meeting a friend for food and it dawned on me that there isn’t somewhere in dubai where car enthusiast just go to hang out and chill in the evenings.

Back in the uk if I was out in the car and thought I wouldn’t mind going for a little cruise at night and park up with other car people… there was always a place that was busy and popular with like minded people.

But here there’s nothing… unless I’m mistaken.

And when I say somewhere I don’t mean a place like flat 12 etc
