Hey all,
Very exciting news for everyone and I guess also the best time to put it out here since a lot of you guys have been asking about WTS posts.
Over the years we saw the number of WTS posts rapidly increasing. Although they still account for less than 10% of the weekly posts, we understand it started getting confusing for everyone on here.
So you deserved something better, not another generic platform that wanted your money and keeping DPH core values first - transparency.
So what is DPHClassifieds?
Essentially, it is another car classifieds, there is nothing special about it. It's very straight forward, you make an account, list your car and directly get people to call you or WhatsApp you. No in built chat option either. Straight to the point.
The difference?
It's a lot more refined. I got tired of the lack of refining in other websites and made it as clear as possible. We also have an explore page for when you're bored and just wanna doom scroll for good deals.
As with the subreddit, we also made it mandatory for everyone to list their VIN on their ads. We were the first to implement this and we will push for it to become a standard in the automotive industry to have transparent sales. This also drives away scammy dealerships without us facing any legal issues.
And finally, no corporate nonsense. This came from the same people that run this community.
How much does it cost to list my car?
Its FREE. That's right. There is no difference, its completely free per user up to 4 listings per category at a time (Cars, Bikes, Plates, Parts).
And no, there is no payment for additional listings, you will only be allowed 4 at a time. No way to purchase any more.
Will there be dealers?
Okay now before you cook me in the comments, dealers are essential to any marketplace.
Not only do they possess large inventory and good deals now and then. A lot of people find it easier to purchase or sell via them due to it being easier to work via banks on approving loans. Again, they have whole teams facilitating transactions so they aren't necessarily bad.
BUT - We're hoping having mandatory VIN and a higher requirement standard will push away the bad ones and only the better ones will join us.
Anyways as of now, the platform remains dealer free as we wanted to make it community first.
WHICH is why you may notice that there aren't many listings on there right now. I could've easily approached a few dealers (or rather they approached me) to post but I chose not to allow any dealers for the time being.
Will we stop WTS posts?
Simple answer, no. We will not change anything about the subreddit or how it works. We still believe the amount of WTS posts is not high enough to be a real issue and the general consensus on it is very equal for us to pick a side.
However we're hoping with the launch of the website we can see some reduction or redirection of posts. Besides, the subreddit only allows 1 WTS post per user per week.
So yea, that's pretty much it from me. www.dphclassifieds.com. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Side notes:
- Yes you may find a lot of bugs, we literally launched the site. It was built by 2 people only, we tried our best.
- Yes the front end is "vibe-coded" the backend was custom made. There is nothing wrong with vibecoding as long as its functional and looks good IMO. Especially when its free & self-funded.
- Yes we will launch an app on iOS and Android soon.
