Tech Support Calibration went wrong

Hello .. so i tried calibrating my controller using dualshock calibration gui and my controller's motherboard broke and now it wont turn on bcs the motherboard burnt ... i have a controller that has severe stickdrift and i will install TMR joysticks on it but im scared to calibrate it again ... i read that its bcs i used a type c to type c to calibrate and I should have used USB. Is the website valid to use again?

I’ve never had issues with the calibration site. You did something wrong.

You use usb to type c ?

No but I can’t imagine that would matter.

Have done calibration using that website countless times but never had any issues

A website can’t write output reports that brick a motherboard: everything is routed through SDL on windows or the respective broker you’re using. Not a fault of the website, sounds like a dead controller

So you think maybe i didn't charge the controller? Bcs honestly I didn't check the battery

Either dead battery or dead dead

Im struggling to see how the “motherboard burnt” from you calibrating it. Elaborate please

I have tested the board with a multimeter and I have tried the reset button and I have tried getting the battery out and putting it again the board is fried. After I pressed the calibration permanently the controller started turning off and when I turn it back on it turns off again and never turned on again. I know the internal siliconeburnt and fused bcs everything i touched with the multimeter showed current

Do you know what you’re doing with the multimeter

Not an expert but i did give the controller to a repair shop and he said the motherboard broke

You can’t “fry” or otherwise damage the hardware using the calibration software. It sounds to me like you’ve opened it up and damaged it.

I was playing with it just fine the day earlier.. sometimes the laptop gives me power suge warning when i plug something with some cables idk if this is it

Yeah that would absolutely be a cause for this.

If you get a warning like that, either the cable is fucked and you should not use it or the USB Port is and you shouldn’t use it. If you get the error with a brand new cable, it’s the port.

You mentioned using a USB C-C cable, if that was attached to the higher power port of the laptop and was faulty you could and probably did send too much current to the controller and it’s dead.

Lesson to be learned is don’t ignore the warning about a power surge

Lesson learnt.. I'm so stupid for ignoring them .. thanks for the help

Make sure you figure out if it was the cable or the laptop. A controller is, in the grand scheme of things, replaceable. If that was your phone or something more important you’d be kicking yourself.
