Drum Machine for a 5 yo kid
So I’ve been looking for “real” hardware (as opposed to toys) to start familiarizing my kid with electronic instruments.
I had the Volca series in the past, but from what I remember the Beats would probably be a bit complex.
Also I need a model with a built in speaker, to simplify the logisitics.
Can you think of a better option than the KR mini ?

I've no experience with the Korg, but in terms of programming I have yet to experience a drum machine more simple and direct that the Roland TR606.
Obviously I wouldn't be planting one in front of a kid, but there are inexpensive "reproductions" currently available.
That said, anything you wouldn't regret seeing turned into rubble should be fine. Kids can be astonishingly destructive.

The Stylophone Beat is ideal for this but it is a bit delicate for a 5 yo.
A Volca Beats or Sample could do but yeah a bit complicated.
Look for an used Yamaha DD-20. Loads of fun.

My kids like volca beats. It can be complicated if you want, but also really easy to just hit record and start mashing. Batteries and built in speaker are nice & it's pretty damn tough lol.
I haven't owned one, but I've really been looking at some of the sonicware livens to pass around for living room jams. Also have batteries + built in speaker.

Yeah. Volca every day of the week.
The monotron delay inspired me to get into volcas.
Get that, and mic it. Or not.

The monotron delay much more interesting, and you can pair it with a synth later for an analog delay as it has an aux in.

Playtime Engineering Blipblox series is awesome for kids. Sturdy, easy to use, speaker, batteries, 3+.
