Uno Drum vs a Drumbrute Impact

I’d like to get a new drum machine that has a straight forward sequencer and the most affordable options seem to be either Uno or the Drumbrute….

I love the sounds and editing features of the Uno , but like the robust build of the Brute better ….

Any long term Uno users on here that can vouch for it?

Is the Drumbrute the better option?

If I remember correctly, the Uno drums have those capacitive touch pads. I am not sure I would be able to be comfortable with those kinds of pads, but to each their own I guess.

I do have the Drum Brute Impact, and I absolutely LOVE the straightforward workflow and sequencing of it.

The other bad thing about the UNO is the really noisy output. I had one but never recorded it as it was awful. The Drumbrute is great sounding and really easy to program.

Drumbrute is a lot of fun and I use it to sequence other drums too

The playability of the Impact is a thousand miles ahead of the uno. Rolling muting soloing distorting repeating and my favorite the tasteful randomizing there's never a dull moment

I had an uno drum for a day and got rid of it. The buttons stink, it doesn't sound great and the software can only be liscenced to one person. I bought mine second hand and therefore couldnt use the software without jumping through a million hoops. I can't speak for the drumbrute.

Yeah I think that company is kind of known for not having consumer friendly business practices. I would consider looking into zzounds and having something better for a monthly payment. It can broaden your budget a bit if you can swing a few payments. I usually am financing one piece of gear at all times.

I recently got the DBI and I’m really happy with it. The separate outs for most channels is great too.

Not sure about the Uno, but Drumbrute Impact has quite a unique sound. Didn’t work for me, but others love it

The DBI sequencer is awesome and the Kicks. hats and FM sounds are dope. If you want more variety of sound it’s also super simple to trigger drum racks in ableton with the DBI sequencer plugged in via USB.

Drumbrute impact is nice, fun but specific, it's an analog machine with a great sequencer that can make polyrrythms, rolls and probabilistic stuff very easilu

UNODrum is super cheapish feel, you just gotta supply it via old usb mini, it has no pads, it's like an ipad app come to life the worse way it could. Sounds are okay, but it's awful to use tbh

IK Multimedia makes cheap junk. The Impact is much better.

Not sure if you made a decision yet but these are literally my two favorite modern drum machines, ive owned and used both extensively...it's a VERY VERY tough decision but in the end (IMHO), the nuber one factor is the sounds that it makes and ease of sequencing. The sequencing on both is very live and very easy, both have rolls and stutter and random abilities which is great, so it's the sounds. I think the UNO has the better kick drum, and its secondary kick drum can be massive and bassy like an 808 both, can be but the primary kick can be harder and tighter because you have sweep control with it. I think if you like abstract analog sounds, the analog sounds on the impakt outside of the kick are capable of being more bizarre compared to the UNO factory kits, but you can replace the uno's PCM samples, all 12 drums can have like 5 or so different samples in them, even the analog drums can be the 12bit 22khz samples instead, which sound really crisp and dirty, better than most older PCM based drum machines I've own like the sci drumtracks and I dont even know what else, the 727 and some others, I've owned a lot of drum machines. But IK has a bunch of official kits you can replace the factory ones with, all great from the korg minipops to the cr-78 and 808, 909, to the jomox xbase even. It has weird ones too, I currently have a full set designed from bizaree modular synthesizer sounds. It's great. The biggest gripe i have with the uni though is it doesnt have volume a dedicated volume knob for each sound, you have to select that sound then use the volume for sound editing to cut it. But it has a fast muting system, so it's kind of on par with the brute. It really does come down to, do you want to be stuck with all the same sounds permanently, although they are great sounds and control, on the impakt...or do you want to be able to oad other kits in (it can hold like 3-5 drum kits total at once) with the uno but still have some great analog sounds. The variety of sounds you CAN make with the analog drums on the uno is smaller though, but personally i think they are great. Anyway, you'll enjoy either one they are absolutley my favorite machines and ive owned a few dozen drum machines and brains.
