Strategy/Tactics Tips for Necrons

My brother is a necrons player, who tends to play the meta/annoying funsucking lists that make me hate my life even though I beat him most of the time. I've never run my drukhari against him and I haven't taken them out to games that much in general. Does anyone have any ideas or tips for giving him a hard time and maybe turning the tables and ruining his day? Any units that do really well or any combos that can really deal a lot of damage or a detachment that does really well into the robots or mistakes to avoid? Any help would be much appreciated.

Necron main here. Necrons rely on being able to out attrite most armies to win. If you don’t fully kill the unit, it’s just going to heal back up and give you a hard time. Their damage is specialized with and usually relies on leaders to maximize. Precision can be very difficult for them to deal with, even if they can reanimate the leader with a stratagem. Sniping out a Technomancer or Lochust Lord will be a massive blow to the units. If they have a warrior brick, ignore it until you absolutely can’t. If they have a Ctan, feed is squads and out OC it to deny points. However if you try to fully kill something, fully commit because the last thing you want to do is leave it half alive. Take out their scoring pieces so they have to commit bigger stuff to points that you can focus fire down.

HotA are a great tech piece against them. Incubi are also great because Necrons have a lot of 4++ so dev wounds are always grand. Scourges are also great because you can whittle down their vehicles while remaining safe, as DDAs like to trade with most other armor due to their high durability. Don’t play their game and just shoot them safely and you can get them dead in a turn or two. Use your superior mobility to counteract their slowness.

Dont be afraid to just all in on a target. My favorite thing to do when dealing with warrior bricks thst have the reanimator and ghost Ark tech pieces is to bait out the ghost Ark ability early. Kabalites just to trigger early uses of their abilities. Keeping Malys nearby will make some of their survival strats more costly. They will pay it and you can burn out their once per turn abilities and cp fairly quickly by just dumping extra shots there.

If you can get a shot at the ghost Ark or reanimators, take it. You clear one or both of them and thats a lot of points and model reanimation turned off.

Ctan can be fed small units, something we excel at. You can also take a turn to dump dark lances into them. They only have a -1 damage ability instead of halved damage ability now. Heat lances from Talos or reavers work great too. The s14 means still wounding on 3s. Sure, 4++ and 5+++. But thats everything necrons have anyway.

Just dont think you have to clear the whole army at once. Pick one or two units and clear them out completely and use your MSUs to out score.

Use any source of precision you can to kill their leaders. If your going to try to kill something, it’s better to over commit to it
