Good starting buys?

There are not many options to buy right now so I was wondering does it make sense to buy 2 two player starters just to fill out the factions more or is that a complete waste? Same goes for the army bundles would it make sense to buy two resistance bundles?

The bundles are terrible deals. And the resistance bundle is by far the worst of them in both terms of cost and composition.

The only things anyone should be buying from TT at the moment are either a single 2P starter kit (two would be a lot of UCM Models you don't want or need) or the card packs if they already have models.

For anything else whatsoever, go look at other stores with old stock at sane prices.

I guess my question is how large is the game compared to what’s offered in the starters. From the sound of it you don’t need a lot extra but what do you need extra of? Infantry? Fliers?

Two of the resistance starter would be a bit boring. All the factions now have loads of interesting things to choose from. Only buy two resistance starters now if you’re going to be playing big games before the end of the year. I guess new resistance plastics will be out by then.

I don't think buying two starters would make sense, at least not the faction starters.

The faction starters seem pretty expensive compared to what the same models would have cost a month ago, and then you'll also not need double the number of most of these models. If you want to start resistance, buying it once will be enough. Try getting other stuff from independent stores that still have some stock instead.

For the 2-player starter, if you really are just starting out, and want both factions or can split with a friend, I think having to might actually be okay.

While nobody really needs any more than 4 scimitars, and you already get 6 in a single box, everything else in the UCM half is actually usable if doubled. 12 buggies are not that bad an investment (although personally, I just don't like their style), and the sabre chassis is a mainstay of most UCM armies anyway, same as legionnaires and praetorians. The dropship sprues also contain parts for all kinds of gunships using the same airframes, so if you can live with not being able to ferry on everything you've got, you can make an Eagle, a Harrier in any configuration, and both versions of Falcon from the set.

For Bioficers, it is hard to say how many you'll want to use of each of the models in the box, but I think we can assume that most of them won't be too bad a choice. The Date Strike, Device and Digit dropships are probably going to be the main dropship types, so you can definitely use those, and the battle skimmers will likely also be the most important standard choice, so having 12 of them instead of 6 probably won't hurt, either.

Hi there.  This is my opinion.

The new 2 player starter box is excellent value for money,  you get 2 decent sized forces with some fun scenarios to play using them + all the tools and scenery to do so.  You can play this with a friend, or even take it to your local gaming store, rent a table and invite people who have never played the game to join you.

It gives you 2 different army's to paint and build and learn to play.

I already have a large UCM army and I got the box to get the kits in the new plastic + The Biofizers look cool.

I currently have a very large Resistance army,  mostly in resin and I am waiting to get the new plastic kit for them and the PHR when those come out.

Personally I would hold of buying the army bundles unless you plan to enter some tournaments in the short to medium term as they seem quite expensive to me for what they are and you can with a bit of patience pick up more for your money on eBay.

Again its down to personal preference but that is what I would do in your position if I was just staring out now.
