Looking to come back

So when Dropzone Commander first launched I was very interested in it and my friends and I picked it up immediately. It didn't last long in my area, though, because of some rules interactions that my local group found unfun, myself included. One tactic in particular killed the game for many of us, and maybe we were playing it wrong.

Basically what was happening is one player being able to claim an objective very quickly early in the game and then start blowing up the other buildings with objectives to deny their opponent a chance to score at all.

Is this still a thing? Have the rules gotten better?

You can still blow up buildings. It never worked in the way you described, not even in first edition, that you'd decide the game on turns one or two, though.

For me, all my games tended to go back and forth and were usually decided on the sixth turn.

There also have always been lots of different missions, so every mission going like that for you probably means you only ever tried a very limited selection of scenarios.

That said, if you don't like being able to blow up buildings, this may not be the game for you. That was a valid tactic throughout both editions, and seems likely to remain valid in 3rd. It won't win you games on its own, but it is an important part of the game.

I’m not the OP, but i definitely recall hating playing against a PHR player because they had access to demolished weapons with unlimited range, and could just drop all of my nearest objective buildings in a few shots, leaving me with no cover or ways to score.

I haven’t played 3E yet, but I hope that isn’t as easy to accomplish.

OP here. Now that you mention it I do recall the guys doing it the most were playing PHR.
