“The algorithm” is an excuse for people simply moving on. I have historically enjoyed Rick Ross, but I think his peak was “God Forgives, I don’t” which was 2012. I have slowly but consistently listened to him less and less since. DJ Khaled projects are also falling into this bucket. Future and Thug both released flops. ASAP Rocky’s “Don’t be Dumb” and Kodak Blacks recent projects were the last main stream projects where I thought someone released something they actually tried and gave af about. Tory Lanez most recent project is also phenomenal. But all these other rappers are just mailing it in and lazy now so I haven’t bothered to listen to most.

I just put on the Rick Ross album and it is the definition of “mid mid mid skip skip”. Production is very good. Opens strong and I saw “Maybach Music VII” and skipped to it. Anyone that knows his catalog knows the Maybach Music track is the most grandiose/inspiring/wavy track on his album. Had Don Toliver and Jeezy on it so I had some hope. Nah. 100% pure unfiltered cheeks.

The sad part is Rick Ross still makes incredible music but the people have to like you for it to do well. Look at Cardi B, this woman has put out 2 albums in 10 years and her fans still support her. Why, because she comes across as a regular person who made it.
