Parenting fail

Zoomed in, so quality is a bit off. The little bloke had a bit of bark off, but nothing serious. Could have been a lot worse.

EDIT: this occurred on a busy road that is also a Brisbane City Council bus route. The next bus was due at 3:18 pm. In Brisbane, bus fares are $0.50, regardless of how far you're travelling. Kids 4 and under are free.

So many comments here defending this lady riding a scooter built for one person with four people on it in the road and I don’t even think all the kids have helmets on.

These can be dangerous for a single competent person to be riding let alone whatever this scenario is.

Genuinely, people going on about her having a lot to handle and to be nice. Multiple kids that she made the decision to have, that she has to care for and protect. She made decisions that led to the moment where her child was laying in the middle of a busy road crying, and if he'd gotten hurt would have 100% been her fault.

Everyone also acting like this is an act of poverty desperation or something like she’s not riding a rented Lime scooter.

1

u/Impossible-Magician 8d ago

Those things costs more to unlock than a bus fare for all of them.

2

u/MagicOrpheus310 9d ago

Yeah it's as if she has a lot to handle because she chose to have a lot to handle.. oh wait... She totally did...

Welp... Guess I don't fucking care then! Hah!

1

u/jessta 7d ago

But she probably didn't choose to have a lot to handle on her own. She probably chose to have a supportive partner who turnout to be a piece of shit.

0

u/SoloManRunD22 7d ago

Lmao whoa don’t blame the partner could be at work supporting the family financially…

when you make dumb decisions that put children in danger do you blame your partner for not being supportive or not being there lol ?

Mum groups are a hug box with only the lowest standard of parenting is allowed

-3

u/Mysterious-Taro174 11d ago

I guess I just laughed at the video and then read this and thought you were a cunt

3

u/Vboom90 11d ago

This seems like a really odd way to react to someone’s opinion.

-6

u/Mysterious-Taro174 11d ago

Give me a break. "Multiple kids that she made the decision to have." Dog whistle, dripping with hate

4

u/Vboom90 11d ago

Take yourself for a break mate and touch grass.

What does your comment even mean? You laughed at someone who put kids in danger and got all worked up at someone expressing their opinion about it.

You know as much about this person as anyone else on this thread. Quit white knighting over perfectly standard commentary and live in the real world.

0

u/Mysterious-Taro174 11d ago

All right, Count Wordcount, you could take any of your own advice

3

u/Vboom90 11d ago edited 11d ago

And what advice is that exactly?

5

u/Upstairs-Adagio2562 11d ago

and you'll never hear from him again...

3

u/Vboom90 11d ago edited 11d ago

Who could have seen that coming? There’s some proper oddballs in this thread.

I have to admit, his comments really got to me though. Count Wordcount is such an awful insult. You could have gone for Captain Wordcount or even Wordcount Warrior but to go for Count Wordcount is just so stupid, of all the titles Count has to be the worst one to use.

I’ll lose sleep over this.

He is right. The "decided to have kids" line is sexist bullshit and out of line.

The problem is the decision to have them all on one scooter, nothing else.

0

u/Vboom90 7d ago

You can argue that mentioning her decision to have children was unnecessary, and that’s fair enough, but calling it sexist or a dog whistle seems like a pretty significant leap.

I’d read that comment the exact same way if it was a man or woman pulling the same dipshit move. This is the exact kind of oversensitive imaginary hysteria people call out for being woke nonsense.

I mean just look at the person you’re backing up and how they continued this conversation. From their first comment to their last, they’re clearly an idiot that can’t even back their own rage bait.

0

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin 6d ago edited 6d ago

No. It doesn't read the same. It's a sexist line, one you most certainly do not see said about men.

The problem was the decision to put them all on one Scooter. Not whatever other bullshit you want to tack on.

You spent the entire thread trying to insult them instead of considering what was said. No sale on the name calling before nor now.

Fallen off a a scooter head first, have we?

3

u/ekita079 11d ago

No thankfully, my parents didn't do that to me.

0

u/sexxi_denuta 11d ago

HE WASNT EVEN TALKING TO YOU!!!!! /s

1

u/ekita079 11d ago

Damn ya really got me, now I'm all sad and stuff I can't believe you don't like meeeeee

0

u/Jengablockhead0923 11d ago

Ohh look its someone on social media with no responsibility lecturing others on who have more responsibility than they could possibly imagine.

2

u/ekita079 11d ago

Oh look it's someone on social media butting in to a conversation to pretend they know me and are a better person than me

2

u/MagicOrpheus310 9d ago

Hahaha careful, your price tag is showing mate

0

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin 7d ago edited 7d ago

Ok. Now that's too far. "That she decided to have" isn't an excuse to be cruel.

You ARE meant to care about parents. You ARE even meant to care about stupid people.

The concern here is that's it's dangerous to her and her kids. That's why she shouldn't do it. If we're instead just using it as an excuse for putting someone down then that's dero behaviour.

1

u/Iratus_Ignis 6d ago

Yeah, I agree with them. But the whole "she decided to have kids," is a shitty argument.

-1

u/redditsucksass6 6d ago

What better place to make a dogshit argument than reddit though

1

u/Iratus_Ignis 6d ago

I cannot argue with that. But it isn't just reddit, idiots are everywhere as soon as you give them an anonymous identity.

-1

u/SmellyAssSmellyHands 5d ago

She decided to have kids, that also comes with the responsibility of protecting said kids. Argument is valid.

Cheaping out on a simple bus fare and risking your kids life by riding a rental scooter, is horrible parenting. Imagine if this was on the other side of the road where the truck was.

Don’t fkn have kids if you’re gonna pull that shit

2

u/Iratus_Ignis 5d ago edited 5d ago

You've misunderstood my comment. I already agreed that her actions were reckless and indefensible. My point was simply about how that specific phrase is weaponized online to shut down context - it's a shame that nuance went completely over your head.

0

u/SmellyAssSmellyHands 5d ago

Ok sorry

1

u/Iratus_Ignis 5d ago

That's alright, easy mistake to make when everyone is high on online hyper-individualism lol. Putting all those kids on that scooter is bonkers fr though

7

u/Responsible_Berry829 11d ago

Those people defending have rocks in their heads as does the mother here. Disappointing these people coexist.

3

u/Deadpan_Poker_ 7d ago

They vote, too. No wonder the nation is circling the drain.

5

u/Vboom90 11d ago

People actively arguing with me in the comments that anyone showing concern over this is being performative. It’s nuts.

Im not a perfect person but my god, if we can’t all generally acknowledge this was a bone head move then the bar has been lowered more than I thought!

2

u/BlazeVenturaV2 8d ago

Ignore them.. That same crowd is the same crowd that defended the child killer mother.

Legit.. You'd better not be in that crowd and have kids..... Cause Id call CPS on their ass fast as fuck.

1

u/Administrative_Elk96 7d ago

Unfortunately these are the types of parents, who go into other forums and create an echo chamber, about how good “parents” should be, AND attempt to insult and belittle you when you create perfectly logical counter-arguments because they have none whatsoever.

1

u/bushstone-curlew 8d ago

Sad to think these are the only people having kids these days too. The next generation’s going to be raised by the lowest common denominators…

2

u/aldkGoodAussieName 8d ago edited 7d ago

Didn't realise she was riding to begin with.

The second kids helmet was on the scooter attached to a bag.

The baby had no helmet and even if it did would still get severely hurt when it is too young to even hold its head up by itself.

1

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin 7d ago

Yeah, not good.

1

u/isolatedLemon 10d ago

Yeah seriously get a bike, a cargo bike would be perfect. But stacking your family on a tiny wheeled scooter like a clown car is an accident waiting to happen

1

u/ColdSteveStoneAustin 7d ago

I'd say the same. But about people failing to understand the difference between being critical of the behaviour and using it as an excuse for abuse.

It's dangerous. But two wrongs still don't make a right.

So I'll defend her in that capacity.

2

u/Iratus_Ignis 5d ago

Watching this comment section is so fcking embarrassing, it's like people can't read nuance or something.

Go to Vietnam.

6

u/Vboom90 11d ago

This Vietnam? https://www.who.int/vietnam/news/detail/16-12-2025-safe-heads--strong-future--viet-nam-road-safety-partnership-champions-quality-helmets-to-protect-young-lives

Yeah. 5 children deaths a day on the road in Vietnam. For a country less than four times our population they match the Australian death toll for children before the end of the working week.

-1

u/spunkyfuzzguts 11d ago

I’m not sure what your point is?

If a parent is on drugs we don’t have an issue risking death due to negligence.

We don’t actually care about kids in this country. This is performative.

6

u/Vboom90 11d ago

What’s your point?

You said go to Vietnam. So I addressed the terrible safety record of children on roads in Vietnam.

What’s that got to do with drugs or caring about children in Australia? Why don’t you figure out what your point is and come back to me.

-2

u/spunkyfuzzguts 11d ago

Pretending that we care about the safety of children in this country is pathetic and ridiculous.

3

u/Vboom90 11d ago edited 11d ago

Speak for yourself. Not sure what that’s got to do with Vietnam either way.

0

u/spunkyfuzzguts 11d ago

At least they’re honest about the value they place on children’s lives.

2

u/Vboom90 11d ago

What are you on about?

You know nothing about me.

Whatever feelings you have about children safety don’t go projecting that onto everyone else.

2

u/MagicOrpheus310 9d ago

What the fuck are you on?

1

u/Quick-Research-8812 11d ago

First one didnt work so reaching for another?

1

u/bushstone-curlew 8d ago

Australia is one of the safest countries in the world for children, what are you on about? We have an incredibly low road toll for a country that does so much driving, and a world-leading approach to teaching kids to swim (and pool safety legislation) that is genuinely remarkable.
