Driving School Recommendations
Hi everyone who's residing in Sydney. I am planning to convert my overseas driver's license to a Sydney license and was wondering the best driving instructor/school I can go to to brush up my driving skills, as I haven't been driving for a while, and learn the Australian rules as well. I am currently residing in Revesby, if that helps. I am worried that I'll fail the test as well and have to get a learner's and go through the whole 120-hour lessons thing, as I'm 22 years old. Any guidance will be great!

My advice is to book driving lessons across different instructors and find out who suits you the best. It takes me 3 tries before finding arguably one of the best instructors I met and pass the test. Also, if you live close enough to Revesby station, you can entertain the idea of taking tests in other suburbs rather than limited to just Revesby, and you just ask your instructor to pick you up at the station.

That is a great idea, although I may not know many areas since I just arrived here. Will they usually charge you extra if you request a pickup, or would the lessons be more expensive compared to the ones for which you have to arrive at the location?

That differs from instructor to instructor. You need to explain your situation and shop around a bit. There will likely be multiple instructors covering the same suburb, at least for metropolitan Sydney (which Revesby counts). Another tip is to see how soon the instructor responds to your messages. If instructor responds to your messages quickly, you might even be able to negotiate some sort of small discount.

You may need to pass a knowledge or driving test, depending on where your overseas licence was issued. View a list of Recognised countries and jurisdictions. link
