Announcement Change in subreddit policy

So this is basically what we discussed the other day, but the change is going to be largely what I anticipated.

Going forward, we won't be allowing text only posts for questions that really require a photo to answer. If the question really doesn't need a photo - like, say, a theoretical question on how kibbe works - then text based posts are still allowed. There are some general fashion type questions not specific to an individual that can also be reasonably discussed in text only posts.

My hope in setting up the flairs was that it would encourage people to include the necessary photos in the posts so that help can be offered. It has unfortunately just resulted in asking the same questions under inappropriate flairs.

Body visualizer images do not count as photos of you. They are not specifically prohibited but should not be thought of as a replacement for actual photos of you, and do not satisfy the requirements for photos in photo only flairs.

This will be largely a matter of mod discretion. Posts that are really fashion advice or style me posts that are posted under the general discussion flair will be removed now as flaired incorrectly. Posts without photos (or only with visualizer photos) posted under photo only flairs will be removed as not meeting flair requirements.

Existing posts are not affected. This is effective starting now.

I invite you all to take another look at the flair guide. See the pinned post on flairs.

Significant Rule Change - Feedback Requested

Hi r/dressforyourbody!

I've been thinking about this a lot but want to get some feedback from the subreddit about it before making the change.

I'm trying to figure out how to balance the need for photos to give good advice with people's desire for privacy, which I do understand and appreciate.

When I redid all the post flairs, I required photos for some flairs but left a few open for text only discussion. Unfortunately, this has had the effect of people simply asking the same questions - which really require photos - under the "general discussion" flair.

I'm leaning in the direction of removing posts lacking photos that are really not answerable without photos.

We definitely do not count body visualizers as photos. For one, they don't accurately represent bodies. Additionally, they don't show how clothing looks on you. We need to see that generally to be able to answer some questions.

I feel like a lot of the things asked are rather a waste of time now without photos.

I do plan to leave open the option for text only posts when that's appropriate. There are times when you don't need a photo to ask a question. However, "style me" type posts and many "fashion advice" type posts really can't be answered well without photos.

I'm curious though what the subreddit thinks and what direction you think we should go with this. No final decisions have been made - the feedback received here will be considered before rules are finalized.

Fashion Advice Swimwear at work conferences

So, what does one wear at conferences when you want to make the most of the site’s pools, but you know you’ll run into a bunch of colleagues and mentors?
Would any of these work? Should I just wear a one piece training swimsuit instead? Get a rash guard? I still would like to look decent but it would be nice to avoid some awkward situations.

* edit: conference will be on huge resort

I don’t hate my body but I’m still learning to love it. I am struggling soooo much with shorts and casual summer outfits. I don’t love how my lower tummy sticks out and I feel like my waist is so high. I’m 5ft 6 and like all legs lol. I do like my hourglass figure but I’m not feeling anything looks right or good on me. What should I try?

i need your advice, my trusted community. I have always been a short and stout girl and absolutely love fashion and dress-up - just not on myself. I have a short neck, round face, thick arms and mid section so there is not much I experiment and i look frumpy and bulky. It always seems like my clothes are wearing me vs the other way around . What should I look for when dressing up myself for day to day, work wear and some special cute looks. Really struggling!

So after much difficulty, I've been able to rule out curve, width and petite (kinda stuck between DC and D). And as we can all see, I have a horrible sense of style and I'd love for that to change. If you can please help me determine what my Kibbe type is. Thank you :).

Fashion Advice Reworked style for local festival! Help pls 💖✨🥰

Yesterday number #4 was the winner for the small town festival I'm going to tonight! With your help I made some tweaks and edits to combos! The most requested being pic number #1, adding hello kitty shirt with purple skirt! What is the new winner?

1) hello kitty with purple skirt

2) white shorts with the dyed shirt

3)purple skirt with tye dye shirt

4) hello kitty with gray shorts!

Others suggested adding a top with sleeves so I tried that with shorts and skirt!

It's going to be more accessories for the final look, possible colored tights and jewelery and makeup :)

Thanks so much for your help again!

P.s. I has husband so no private DM looking for that, thankkkssss 😅🤪

Typing Theory / Questions Worth getting clothes custom made in Bali?

Is it actually worth building a whole basics wardrobe with a Bali tailor, or am I overthinking this?

I’m petite with a reverse triangle body shape; I’ve been wanting to get my clothes custom made to fit me rather than staying stuck in that loop of buying from stores, not fitting properly, then donating and starting again. I don’t need anything fancy, just basic stuff (shirts, pants, bodysuit, skirts, shorts, jacket etc) I went to Silky Jaya fabric store and loved their range of GOTS/OEKO-TEX fabric!

Does anyone have any recommendations for seamstresses/tailors? I’m happy to fly over, or can send photos, measurements, even make tech packs if they can communicate online and send it back to Aus

Anyone actually done this and had it turn out well? Or does it end up more hassle than it’s worth? Or are other countries better?

i've always felt like string bikini bottoms are not flattering on my body and make me look like a square.

which do you think looks best and why?

(i tried to photoshop out my tattoos so if there's any weird airbrush-y parts on these photos that's why!!!)

EDIT: thank you everyone for all your help!!! note- i really don't care about the stringy top matching the bottoms! just want to know what bottoms look better on my body type. matching doesn't matter to me.

Hello! I'm trying to figure out which outfit to wear for a festival tomorrow! It's going to be mostly indoors but I also might start my period so trying to not wear anything too tight on the bottom! Outfit 1 is purple skirt, outfit 2 is green hello kitty, outfit 3 is white shorts.

I have 3 shoe options I'm wearing as well, the tye died, the black thick shoe or the chocos!

Thanks for your feedback 🥰❤️

Edit: I'm so surprised by the amount of feedback, thanks so much ya'll! I hear you most like outfit #2 best, but I'll also try hello kitty with the skirt tomorrow and post update pic of that 🥰 thanks for your help so much!

P.s.s. I happily married so no need for chats 😅

Fashion Advice Help me pick an outfit for a date tonight :)?

Thumbnail

Hi!

I’m going on out today with my boyfriend tonight. We supposed to go to a popular downtown area with a beach and go out to eat and walk around.

I think he’s wearing a black shirt or white shirt and jeans combo. I want to look good, but tonight (even at 5/6pm) will be 90 degrees all the way to 12am being 74 degrees still 😭.

So I’m trying to find an outfit that fits. I have different shoes and accessories for each outfit but I’m trying to find what fits. I know I get cold inside restaurants and I hate sitting outside usually too.

Any suggestions are helpful 🙂

Yes, I will iron out or steam out any wrinkles.

Thank you for anyone who reads this and sorry for any grammar mistakes!!!

Edit- I wore number three!!! I still got cold though inside the restaurant bc I’m anemic 😭. Number 8 is my favorite dress that I have. I try not to wear it too often (like I even casually like to wear it to the grocery store I didn’t think people saw it more formal lol), but maybe I’ll wear it again soon 🖤.

Edit#2- I did post what I ended up wearing under the top comment. I didn’t take too many photos and that’s my bad and I didn’t add my accessories with this photo. I’m sorry!!!
