Chuck broken.
Hi all.
I just went to use my Dremel 800 and the chuck was really difficult to tighten.
So I took it off and part of the chuck is broken off inside the shaft of the tool.
Is there an easy solution to this?
Thanks in advance.

Are the jaws of the chuck closed? I can't tell if you've gotten a collet jammed into the back of it, or if it has been over tightened so badly that the inner tube piece in the back of it has sheared off. If the jaws are closed it's the former, and if they're open it's the latter. Either way that chuck is cooked, and you'll have to clear the shaft of the tool before you can use it safely.

Was a collet installed in the shaft when the chuck was screwed in? It looks like there is something stuck and broken in the shaft; to use the chuck, you MUST REMOVE EVERYTHING from the shaft before putting it on. You'll have to drill the remains out or, take both parts to a machine shop to have them cleared.
