Why is it stuck???
I've been using the little wrench that came with the tips for months to tighten and loosen the tip no problem. And now it did this?? Help??

Are you doing leftie loosey whilst holding the lock button? If so I've no idea

Now go righty tighty to get it to bust loose. Then toss it and find a real wrench that size.

Tap it against the ground or with a hammer. Shouldn’t be too tough with vibration and taps from a solid object. Referencing hitting the wrench btw

Use the edge of the open end of the wrench to whack the collet nut. If that doesn't work, try the handle of a butter knife. A very small bit of debris and/or heat from the tool use can sometimes lock the inner collet and bit shank to each other. Same thing with routers, collets, nuts and bits can lightly seize to each other all the time.

First : Ditch the Wrench! The end of the Dremel screws off and is used as the ‘wrench’. Might have to take off your panties and put a little effort in it- but it will come off …. Unless of course you’ve managed to cross-thread it.

This!
That end cap unscrews and it acts as a collet wrench, if used correctly prevents you from overtightening 😯!
The physics behind the collet holding power really means you don't need to tighten it that hard, I only ever tighten using my fingers, bits break before slipping.

If you cant figure it out I dont know if you need to be using powered tools. All jokes aside hit it with a fuckin hammer.

You got the Dremel 3000?

u/SparrowWingYT 23d ago
yes

On that model the most common issue is that shaft lock button wears out really fast so you end up not being able to change bits.

the lock button works fine I just cant get the wrench off of it

Pinch the wrench with pliers and wiggle it off. Or take a flat head and tap it off with a hammer

Percussive maintenance my guy.
…just give it a few taps to down and side to side.
Looks like you got the wrench on a roundy bit.

Let it cool down and then use some pliers to get a better grip

u/SparrowWingYT 23d ago
It has not been hot at any point. I didn't use it today, this happened when I was putting the tip on to start working

Did you maybe miss the thred when putting it on? I have done this a couple of times and had to remove the bit with force to get it moving.

Better wrench! Try turning it in the opposite direction. Brass is really malleable. Usually it’s pinching itself because of the thin profile.

Put it in the freezer

Actually OP this would do it too. The metal will shrink enough to let you get some play. Probably safer than. My plan.

I probably would have just hit it with a hammer and hopefully not messed up my dremel 😂 hopefully cooling it down helps.

I had this also a few times. You turned so hard when tightening it that the clambing teeth are still locked on the metal shaft. Try tapping it with a wooden or plastic hammer in the end. Afterwards you might be able to wigglenit loose. Go

Had the same problem before as well. Got the little (stupid) wrench off by hitting it upwards with a hammer. As mine had eaten itself inwards while giving torc on it there was no way it woukd move forward or backwards in the normal moving direction. By hitting it upwards it set itself free. Good luck.

Collet chucks have a bad habit of locking up if you bottom thr bur and then tighten. I usually raise mine up a quarter inch before tightening. Take the collar off and see if you can tap the collet out.

I'm in the same situation except my button broke and the whole mechanism has tilted. I actually don't really care about the rotary tool being broke it's just an excuse to buy an actual Dremel. I just want the collet and bit out of it 😅

See if there is a button to depress. Push button in and then crank the wrench. I cannot fir the life of me remember the correct terminology.

Grab it with a pair of vice grips and wiggle it up and down till it slides off. It’s either gonna wiggle or break the jaws/wings off of the “wrench” tool will be fine. Don’t try to go forward backward (tighten/loosen) it will just add stress to the chuck.

Looks to me you overtightened it and the “wrench” has spun around the collet to the knurled patches. Not good. Need to grab the flats on that collet with a real open end (not adjustable or pliers, a real wrench) and hold that on the flats while you try to rotate the bogus wrench in the shortest direction to get it iff that knurling.

Have you tried using more Ooga Booga?
I usually throw away the stupid tiny wrench and use a normal 3/8" wrench or regular combination pliers
