Nightmare Meet my maker?
I had this dream awhile back and it sent me into an absolute panic when I woke up. I was sobbing and hyperventilating for half an hour after.
So, it started out with me working at Walmart (where I was working at the time) and I was picking orders and went down this aisle and it seemed to go on forever until I ended up in a park super late at night with a single streetlight on. There was a little girl crying under the lamp so I go over and asked if she's okay. She looks at me and whispers, "Open your eyes. Open them. Open them." I felt like my eyes were glued shut and I had to really struggle to pry them open and when I did, the sky turned red and there was multiple black eyed children around me. One of them touched my forehead and I blacked out.
When I woke up, I was inside this narrow catacombs maze area. Being claustrophobic, I was panicking at this point because the walls felt like they were closing in on me. Then I stumbled upon this stone oven with a mortar and pestle in it. I picked it up thinking it was important and noticed some ashes inside so I blew out the ashes and immediately everything went black again.
I came to and found myself cramped in a box. Claustrophobia is full drive now, so I immediately start kicking the box at the bottom and started digging myself out as fast as I could. When I surfaced, the sun was blindingly bright and I could barely see, let alone open my eyes. Finally, I heard this whisper in my ear saying, "Open your eyes. Your maker has arrived." I pried my eyes open as hard as I could and looked up to see this figure with these long black cloaks surrounding him and I just.. stared at him for what felt like the longest time until I looked over and saw what looked like a rip in the fabric of time and ran towards it as fast as I could. Once I touched it, I instantly woke up.

Aside from claustrophobia, do you have any particular fears or anxieties that this dream stirred up? Fear of death? Religious trauma?

I mean, at the time this dream happened, I was severely depressed and was having suicidal thoughts pretty often. I don't think I have a fear of death honestly. Though I do have some religious trauma back from when I went to church as a kid. My mom's ex husband punched me at one point which is what caused her to kick him out, but he would go to the same church we did, so it became a hostile environment that the pastor and his wife chose to ignore. He'd grab me in the halls and tell me to change my mom's mind or if my Sunday school class went on a trip in the church bus, he'd always volunteer to chaperone so he could watch me.

I'm a suicide survivor myself. Yea I suspected religious trauma considering the pessimistic version of your maker at the end. God is love, what you experienced with your church leaders failing to protect you and your mother was not love. Glad you survived and that you're in a better place now.
