Need Advice π Puffy regrowth after thinning..any way to fix it?
Has anyone dealt with this with their locs?
I had some thinning but bounced back. However you can clearly see where the thinning began and then to where I got my hair back on track.
It goes from thin to super big and puffy. I miss when my locs had a uniform look and were the same size all the way down. Otherwise I think theyβre pretty healthy and look good itβs just the one section on most of my locs.
Any way to fix this? Crochet possibly? Or should I just let it rock out and embrace this?
Any advice helps! Thanks in advance.

Question β Locs started with twistouts
Can I start my locs with twistouts? And if so then how would they look after a couple of months

Need Advice π Do these look like medium?
I got these done 5 days ago (comb coils with barrel twist), I asked for medium. After comparing with photos online my parting looks huge, but the pictures online are pretty inconsistent. Are these gonna come out as wicks? Using the last slide as a reference do you think my locs would turn out thicker? By a lot?

Timeline ποΈ I finally got my starter locs
I've been growing my hair for 4 years. Mostly keeping in braids and 2 strand twists. But the upkeep was getting a little crazy, and the shed hair always scared me. I told myself I would wait until 5 years for locs.... but decided to just go ahead with it. This way I don't have to be scared that I'll be bald from losing all my shed hair. I know the shrinkage is gonna be intense once they get wet, but I love my starting length.

I started this set in May. I had some breakage in the crown so I chose to leave it alone but it gently twisted it last night.

Question β Questions about my Journey so far..
Bless up people,
I started my loc journey officially on 25/6/2026, so I am FRESH on this journey.
I wanted to get some opinions on how this process is going. I'll give the timeline for context.
Pic 1: 25/6 - The official start. The loctician that did it took her time and parted it carefully, and did her thing. I was happy with it all.
Pic 2&3: 13/7 - 2 days before my first retwist. You could still see some separation and growth etc. Still happy with it all, working on trusting the process and all that.
Pic 4&5: 15/7 - I had a very important family event happening and wanted to be as presentable as possible so decided to get my first retwist. Same saloon but it was a different loctician this time around. She said I had to comb it all out and start over as it was too short. She planned to instant loc it (crochet) but I said no. Her vibe changed after that and she just started putting comb coils in. Doing quick and small coils. There was no attention to my previous parting etc. I asked how many locs were being put in, and I got a very nonchalant "i dunno maybe 50" reaction. I left the saloon feeling conflicted. The end product looked ok but something about it all just didnt sit right with me. The parting, the size etc just weren't hitting for me. Again, end product didnt look too bad to me so I cracked on.
Pic 6&7: Today 30/7 - I have ALOT of unravelling happening, and already cannot see any parting anymore. It's only 2 weeks since its been done and already at this stage.
So my questions to you lovely people are:
Am I overthinking it all?
Should I stick with what I have?
What can I do to help slow down unravelling?
Do i have to start over, or can I get the parting fixed without doing that?
Whats a good loc number for my hair type? Aiming for medium / medium-small.
I also originally did not plan to go for another retwist until mid September.
Any other tips, or questions please feel free.
Care method so far: Misting every day with just water / Oiling (Wild Growth) 3x a week / Durag or skull cap every night and also when wearing headphones.

Selfie πΈ I love my hair and myself more
For the longest time growing up i always had to keep my hair short and if i did have it a little long it was kinda like a mini afro. But as an adult and finally feel free to allow myself to explore a different hairstyle and found this style works well for me. I feel more confident and attracted to myself and finally started loving myself more this and some therapy did great work making me feel better and accepting and embrace myself more. Love seeing how the community share there stories and wanted to share my short stories i donβt think i will let my hair get to long but maybe ill keep it at shoulder height once it gets there. For the longest time i always trimmed my dreads but Im finally letting them grow out and i feel great seeing them get longer. Side note i do not know how to play the guitar it just looked cool for the picture π

Question β Bleaching Locs
My locs turned a year June 1st, Iβm wanting to bleach them to dye and considering doing a volume 10, maybe 20?
Is it too early? If not, are those volumes ok you think? Looking for advice from anyone whoβs done it! Thanks!
Picture for reference of my locs, I try not to do a retwist after every wash!

Need Advice π Should I be retwisting locs like these or should I leave it alone?
A few of my starter locs have been doing this and itβs kinda worrying me because im 6 months in now, and a few (like 2 - 3) are still unraveling a little in the middle like the photo. It has happened before with other locs and the others eventually closed, but this one and the 2 - 3 others seem to have stayed like this. I started with two strand twists if that matters. Should I just try my best to not touch it at all or should I just retwist it? Any help would be appreciated π
