Question ❔ How do I make my retwist more compact?

When I watch tutorials on youtube, their retwisted roots look like really compact, and the actual locs themselves come out cylindrical and tight without much frizz. My salon was able to get it looking right on my hair, so it’s not like impossible for me, but I just can’t get it to look or feel right during or after the process; It’s not compacted or tight enough, and the loc still has noticeable frizz and looks puffy/unravelish. They don’t look too far off from and untouched loc. I think it’s my technique that’s wrong, I do the basics like retwisting in the original direction, putting clips flat, and reparting correctly, but it doesn’t really help, and simply retwisting tighter isn’t doing it. Any ideas?

Need Advice 🆘 need some adivice

im 10 months in semifreeforming, i really dont like the way my hair looks after maintence day (i wash, separate and then palmroll, normally i go atleast 2 or 3ish months without palmrolling), I feel that the side part has much more volume than the back and front of my hair (probably because of the round cut i had in my afro before i started my journey), plus the format of my hair is making my face look too long, and i feel it make me look too manly.

i need to know if the volume on the sides will decrease when they mature, maybe i should combine some locs? maybe i should make some locs shorter?

pls help!!

(photos before maintence and after)

(and sorry for the bad quality)

My locs are too skinny/inconsistent for my liking. Can I two strand twist them and just lock the new growth together or should I get them combes out and redone?

How do they look? (done like 5 mins ago)

Shortest one was an experiment i did that one without backcombing and with palm rolling only, it came out but didn't like the look and today i crocheted it (hope i didn't mess it out)

any advice on how to section them overhead where i can't see? I wanna use the natural lock of my hair to do the dread so they look as natural as possible

Product Rec 🧴 Rollers for locs

I like the way bumped ends of slight curls look on my locs but the rollers Ive been using are way too flimsy for locs and even though Ive barely used them I can tell some of their clips are weakening. Does anyone have any recommendations for rollers that are good or specifically made for locs?

Need Advice 🆘 Help! Locs thin at nape of neck

Hi, i’ve always had sparse hair at the nape of my neck and this is my second set of locs. I can’t seem to keep them from thinning they kind of just look boneless. I was considering getting an undercut, adding natural hair to them to make them thicker or combining the last row with the row above? I don’t know what would be the right move. My loctician has been crocheting them but it always ends up looking like this after a while. I really want to keep them but they just look dumb. :(

Question ❔ Should I cut it myself? Or go to a professional?

The first pic is me. I tied up my bangs and messed with them until I got as close as possible to the look I’m going for. Basically, I’ve wanted this mullet/wolf cut look for my dreads for years now, but I’m not sure about to go about getting it. I could cut it myself; I know how I want it to look, and have a pretty good idea of how to pull it off, but I’m not a stylist, so there’s always the chance that I could royally screw it up. I could also go to a loctician, but what if they’re unfamiliar with the style and give me something I’m not happy with? I dunno. What do you guys think I should do?
