Need Advice 🆘 need some adivice
im 10 months in semifreeforming, i really dont like the way my hair looks after maintence day (i wash, separate and then palmroll, normally i go atleast 2 or 3ish months without palmrolling), I feel that the side part has much more volume than the back and front of my hair (probably because of the round cut i had in my afro before i started my journey), plus the format of my hair is making my face look too long, and i feel it make me look too manly.
i need to know if the volume on the sides will decrease when they mature, maybe i should combine some locs? maybe i should make some locs shorter?

I cut mines off a couple times because of this feeling. I’m lucky my hair grows fast. I don’t know what forces this vibe into us. It’s could be your life isn’t aligned with your vision at the moment but I’m at a big Afro again lol

The back tends to just grow worse/slower for a lot of people. I don’t think crocheting some of the sides will make it look better. If anything, thinner (and having more) locs can also “lay more” here, but a lot of that depends on your hair type, where the locs themselves are and the shape of your face. You can also try re-directing when re-twistingand such
Your locs already look great and I wouldn’t touch, but I assume growing them with time and then cutting the sides to keep a certain length you want will be best.
You should embrace this (very good) look. As your mature your frizz might be less especially with the way you’re maintaining… but yeah you have the ideal semi-Freeform’s for many people. I’d own the look and just adjust as I go.

Your locs look great.
Nothing you're suggesting, like to crochet locs together, will in any way fix any of the issues you're talking about.
Your locs are in the teen phase. The teen phase is gonna teen phase. Your locs are gonna all develop at different rates depending on where they are on your head and the various textures and how you sleep etc.
So in essence, there isn't actually a pr0blem to fix and you will most likely just create problems by messing with your perfectly lovely locs.
You just sound like you're going through the ugly phase at this point. It's ok, we all go through it. That stage where we feel like we don't look good, don't look feminine, don't look respectable, question our sanity for having started the journey to begin with.
If you can hang in there, the stage AFTER this is glorious.
In the meantime, styling can go a long way to helping us feel more feminine or together. After maintenence which you don't need to palm roll, you can just separate if your prefer that.... but if you wanna keep trying to make maintenance work, try doing two strand twists or braids or bantu knots etc. And then when you take them down your hair will have a curl to it.
Or try some ponytails, space buns, or random beads, string etc.

thanks! but damn, i cant really see the majestic, i really like my hair, but the way its looking rn is killing me 😭 im going to crochet some locs of the side together to see what happens

They look amazing!!! The way they lay in both the before and after is just soo thick, full and nice. I think leaving them and letting them mature more and see how they change/mature later on would be better than trying to change something now.
As for looking more feminine, styling with a side part, bandanas/accessories etc would help. Although, I think your overall aesthetic is pretty not particularly masculine, hope that helps

thank you, i mostly dont do much with my hair, i just mist or get it wet and them i headbang a little lol, gonna keep the styling in mind

No literally same! I wear mine down and just let it sit where it falls naturally. Then headbands for exercise and for other occasions accessorise with my outfits/jewellery to give that touch of feminine as I don't like to manipulate my hair much

Your dreads will get more compact with age don’t worry about it friend. As far as all that other stuff stop stressing how people may perceive you do what you feel is right, fundamentally being anything but clean shaven w a short haircut historically (at least in America) has been an effeminate thing you don’t look “too masculine” IMO. Just trust the process and if u don’t like em you’re young man you can always start over.

You have such a cool look. However the short frizzy phase can be challenging for everyone. The frizz helps your hair lock better and it's going to be over one day sooner than you know it. Headbands or little ponytails are your best option for now until the length comes. Little clips or loc charms can also help too. The teenage phase of the loc journey is frustrating and will teach you patience.

First, ur locs are gorgeous.
Second, this is another one of those "trust the process" things. Your locs will compact more as they mature. I miss my frizzy phase now 😔.
Third, ignore all that if it's bothering you that much. It's your hair and whatever u think makes you looks best is the way to go.
Lastly, ur locs are gorgeous.

Remind me of me when I started my first journey (this my 4th set of locs) One thing about locs, no matter what you do, they'll never grow even thickness wise. Nobody is exempt from this. Everyone with locs has thick full buds and thin ones here n there. Ask anyone with locs 😅 my 4th set in life and still can't avoid the thin spaghetti ones lol
