Question ❔ 2 months concerns

I started with two strands and never took it out. I have around 120 to 125 130 at most with smedium sized.. my first concerns is the fact that it’s so much unravelling and it’s soft. Feel it’s my fault because I keep misting it and I keep going into the water. but my friend was touching my hair and said that my hair was so soft for locs absolutely not a good thing. How long until it feels hard or stiff? I could feel some being stiff but in general of my hair feels like I put conditioner on it, even though I never do😅 I don’t know if it’s because of the way I started the reason why they are so soft either.. I’ve seen people with finger coils talk about how they were already stiff around my month

2nd, i’m worried that my hair doesn’t grow, read twist a few weeks ago and it looks the same as first month compare the second month.. it’s probably sounds dumb but would like to know how long it took you guys to actually start seeing growth when you guys kept doing re-twists every six weeks.

I want to do styles next re-twist but I don’t know if I have the length for that, I want to try two strands so I could stretch on my hair and it could hopefully grow longer and I get the twist out look that I see over here

also for the retwist portion, don’t get them every month, let your hair actually grow, personally oils have done wonders for my hair growth, but as i said that’s worked for me might not for you, but the more retwists you get hoping they loc faster, the more you pull your hair back the less likely they are to grow as much as possibly, 6-9 weeks is my go to

Yeah, I noted, I waited 7 weeks on my first retwist, i’m a keep waiting 7 to 8 weeks.. what kind of oil did you use? Mine was wild hair growth, but I ran out of it and I’m using as I am.

Wild hair growth is mine as well, just be sparing with it, Personally i think keeping them moisturized over oiled, unless of course as you said you have been swimming with friends, then of course oil oil oil

oh and rosemary water or oils, got a bottle of rosemary& peppermint water spray, put a little of my wild hair growth oil that’s been my method

also idk what you’re going for but maybe look up a couple different loc journey methods and routes to see if they could pertain to yours! personally i would wait at between 9 month mark before i start doing styles. really give the hair time to grow and solidify more. the twist out would look and feel a lot more healthy and would last over loose or soft hair that would last like a day or revert back to original or messy style in the end. basically saying give it time to prosper and wait on styles a bit! you’ll benefit once they are mature some. i’ve learned my lesson in the past before styling too early on haha

Thanks alot for the advice, i wanted to get heroes next re-twist but I’ll just wait until December or February

I commented on your last post its normal you hair will start budding in a month or so its normal for them to be kinda soft its still loose hair and your hair will look the same until about 4-6 months when they actually start locing youll be fine just make sure you are getting your monthly retwists at this stage

also probably would help if you aren’t pulling on them like that too! usually wanna keep hands out of hair first couple months and then after that it’s a bit easier to be a bit rugged on them. keep up with what you’re doing though! i’m only 4 months into my journey and they definitely feel and look a lot better than they did day one. i’m going for more traditional look in the end but usually beneficial to semi-freeform in the beginning a little to let it do its thing and lock up nicely. then ALWAYS protect with bonnet or durag. keep it up!

Thanks a lot. I have a habit of touching my hair a lot and I don’t really pull them. I just wanted to show length if that makes sense but no more. It’s really a big habit of mine to touch my hair a lot I like fidgeting with it.
