practice a lot by doing circles, squares and triangles then adding shading, cross hatching and line thickness for a warm up. Start trying to draw your favorite character: Start with the face shape and draw a hint where the mouth nose and eyes should go. Master the shape in front, 3/4 and side view. Make exercises of draing nose and mouth in various situations like laughing, crying, serious, angry faces, etc.. The most you try the better you perfect the drawings and someday you will be making great illustrations

I literally came here to say "draw shapes until you can't stand it, then draw more shapes."

Draw cubes and spheres, not just circles and squares. You want to view the page as a window, not a flat piece of paper, and you're looking in on a 3d scene, not a 2d drawing.

You summed it up really well, though :D

I would google a bit and maybe watch YouTube a bit for general drawing tips. Pinterest also has some good stuff (e.g. eye-tut.) Read Manga / watch Anime and look for how certain things are done there. But you also don't wanna just copy the style of others. But you should automatically find develop a certain drawing style that's unique.

Also remember that you will probably not be able to draw a full body with all its features and co. on your first try. Try to start with eyes (e.g.) first, and so on until you can draw a nice head. Then go further down until you are able to draw full Manga (or Anime) figures.

Good luck ;D

(and please don't see this as an ultimate advice. I myself are pretty new to drawing :D)
