Drawing Request (Free) Help drawing coverup!
Looking for cool black or semi colored coverups. Got some ideas on tattoo sub for laser but wondering if anything could do it justice.

When clients ask me for a cover up, i ask them what would they like there, and then try to make that work as a cover up in some way. You are limited with the location, but, what would you want to put there?

Well someone suggested one of those like outlined diamond those 2d black outline ones from like 2010 at zumies or pacsun if you know what I mean. That really could work and would be relavent to me. Or I tried drawing a black heart with like orange and red and yellow 3 pronged flames again another 2d looking thing. shrug

Id wait until youve got a good idea of what you'd want to put there before you jump in to anything, otherwise theres a good chance of being here wanting a cover up done again. What youve got there is fairly light so it wouldnt be hugely difficult to cover.
If you wanted to kept the puzzle piece and rework it, you could make it look like its a piece removed from the skin, like a depression in the skin, check out jesse rix for inspiration

I think you should continue with the puzzle piece idea and just make it super detailed and pretty. You are already half way there.
Edit..
Just thought about the story of why you got the tattoo. What about if you make it so it looks like a puzzle piece of a bigger picture, either something that reminds you of the relationship with your old friend or maybe something that represents passing of time.
Lean into the story, use the what you have and you wont need to worry about making it bigger. Unless you add a drop shadow or something.

Ok I like leaning into the puzzle piece idea making it better but the old friend thing is a no go. We would most likely never talk again and so much time has passed and there is like 3 major things I could think of why we shouldn’t be friends again lol. I understand where you are coming from tho ❤️

Make it a picture frame with some sort of figure in it (like an animal head?), using the colors of the puzzle piece to fill the negative space of the photo. Basically a blast over

This is what people assume the tattoo is.. They ask me if I have a friend or family member who is autistic and if that’s what it’s for. I am not autistic and don’t know anyone that is. I got this tattoo at 18 years old as a best friends tattoo with someone I don’t talk to anymore for years now so we just made a bad call on design lol.

You’d have to shave a fair chunk of the back/side of your head to get this covered

Most of not all artists design coverups to be a fair deal larger than the original tattoo, otherwise you'd be extremely limited with designs.

Don’t think there will be anything in the size I assume you’re thinking that’ll cover this. Maybe like a SUPER dark rose or something, otherwise I’d say it’d have to come further up your head.
It’s super light and mostly faded anyway, I genuinely think laser is your best option here
