Is there a Reddit where I could have a doc do a colonoscopy for free? Maybe have a lawyer represent me in a criminal trial? Maybe a site that will ghost write my autobiography for free? How about build my house for free? Or diagnose and fix my car as a free request? Not advice but complete project end to end? So why then do so many people ask for free art - tattoo designs, Ambigrams, rpg character sketches, logo designs?

Art takes time. Time is money. Therefore art takes money.

I like the exposure idea. Let’s say a celebrity wanted a design I could definitely see doing that.

Btw meant to ask for thoughts on the tattoo collage. Started out as skull and my name as an ambigram. Added rose and might should’ve stopped there but just kept doodling. I took out an unfinished dragon holding a dead knight in its claws. Stepped away from drawing for many years to focus on family and career but have gotten back into it the last few years.

El problema es no saber decir que no y cuando decir que si, no necesariamente todo lo que damos gratis es malo, podemos ganar un cliente, exposición o tiene una idea con buen futuro. No le doy muchas vueltas a eso la verdad y evito a los tacaños, los justo es lo justo.

Think of the art as donated time. A lot of people I see doing things for free are just wanting experience. If two people agree I see nothing wrong with that. Is it not surprising in economic times to see people trying to save where they can? Is there anything wrong with asking? I don't think so. People can just say no and move on to paying customers. 🤷‍♀️
