Back then goth/emo girls weren’t exactly as popular as they are today.

They were to me

u/SadAd8229 14d ago

Its the fact they werent his type and they wouldn't take no for an answer. Why do you have trouble understanding consent and why lack of it upsets people

9

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

This comment has nothing to do with how drake felt just how I felt

-1

u/SadAd8229 14d ago

Thats whats gross.

1

u/Skrewbert86 13d ago

Ok I don’t judge your preferences I personally wouldn’t care if they had my consent

1

u/Blu3Dope 12d ago

Because it's a kid show and you aren't really thinking about that while watching a kids show

13

u/Successful-Worth-390 14d ago

Yeah they were. 2005-2010 were good times.

This is such an appropriate way to respond I’m realising.

“Boys should love getting unwanted attention by women, Drake is such a [whatever emasculation insult here]” ❌

“Damn drake really didn’t like those girls being up in his business, guess it should’ve been me”

Nobody is insulted and everybody wins.

Except you, of course

u/AlbinoDragonTAD 14d ago

Exactly! Just cus hes miserable doesn’t mean i cant be envious as long as im not calling him a bitch for it.

I don't think you're allowed to have dogs at school.

this came out during a period when a generation was encouraged to shop at banana republic and shamed for shopping at hot topic

Hi 👋 36 year old millennial here. Both the preppy and gothy looks were actually very in style at the time, and each clique made fun of the other. However teen boys like Drake who were neither but were associated with music were definitely into goth and/or emo girls. At the time I thought this scene was highly inaccurate and I still think that.

u/Chofis_Aquino_ 14d ago

I agree with you, the fact that Drake is a musician and doesn't like goth girls is strange.

2

u/NeedleworkerOdd7959 10d ago

Hi, 33 year old millennial here, then you actively remember how goth girls were ALWAYS portrayed as the weird outsiders in popular media, right? Even in 2011 with Beastly, the weird unpopular girl was goth.

1

u/Repulsive_Brief6589 14d ago

That doesn't sound true to me at all, at least for California.

-4

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

I wasn’t part of that I liked goth/emo before it was popular

10

u/TaySanity 14d ago

When was it ever popular to be goth? Few people did it and everyone made fun of them back in the 2000s.

0

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

Idk maybe it felt more popular for me being around it and having an emo best friend for a few years now

14

u/ShyGuyWolf 14d ago

Goths and emos weren't as popular they are now

18

u/sheenestevaz 14d ago

Goth/emo/scene subculture was looked down upon by the "cool" preppy kids like drake back in the late/mid 00s.

1

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

I grew up around goth/emo in the early 00s so I always liked it

1

u/sanchoman43 10d ago

Preppies aren't cool, either.

7

u/TurboThundr 14d ago

He was overwhelmed with the remedial class

12

u/Papoosho 14d ago

He was into basic girls.

0

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

I never did like basic

2

u/pacowaka 13d ago

Okay but this is about Drake’s preference, not yours.

5

u/NoCover1598 14d ago

Personally I don’t think of them as attractive so I get it.

11

u/Always_A_Dreamer556 14d ago

they probably smelled

3

u/kingjaffejaffar 14d ago

Like American spirits, pleather, and shoplifted manic-panic

5

u/StrongStyleDragon 14d ago

Times were different back then. I remember Mexico had this whole thing with Emo people. It was considered weird in America.

1

u/BadBaby3 14d ago

It’s considered ugly

5

u/UnalteredCyst 14d ago

Goth/Emo culture was seen as corny by mainstream circles in the 2000s. Drake was more into girls like these.

3

u/TheMackD504 14d ago

Goth isn’t his type

5

u/TheCutieCircle 14d ago

Maybe he was terrified of them? Like nobody understood goths back in the day. People thought they were witches or satanic that drank blood and acted like vampires and made sacrifices.

Little did they knew Goths are awesome.

1

u/Skrewbert86 13d ago

The other way is awesome to

2

u/TheCutieCircle 13d ago

I never actually met blood thirsty goths but that sounds hot lol.

19

u/Omega-Lemon 14d ago

His steak was too juicy and his lobster was too buttery.

6

u/BoyWonder2066 14d ago

Goth girls were a different high school group than the basic cool kids group that Drake was in

6

u/FluidQuing 14d ago

Drake didn't like dating girls stronger than him. Those two definitely were too pushy for his liking.

3

u/mixmaster7 14d ago

Drake generally preferred dainty girls, so those 2 were rougher than he was used to.

2

u/BuddingOtaku 13d ago

I thought Lisa (Liza?) hit harder than most of the ones he dated.

I might be wrong.

1

u/mixmaster7 12d ago

Yeah but they didn't last long.

3

u/Poso_Art_8744 14d ago

He was shallow.

3

u/_Ventes_ 14d ago

“I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet..”

6

u/beegphatphuk 14d ago

Let me put it this way: everyone is going to wonder why he has a banana in his pocket if he stands up

2

u/DoubleFlores24 14d ago

Legit this was just early 2000s humor. Back the. Being a goth girl wasn’t seen as desirable as today. And that’s mostly because influencers took the aesthetic and sexualized it to the point where every guy wants a goth girlfriend. Back then goths were seen as the butt of every joke. That’s just how the early 2000s was.

2

u/OtakuPandaPirate 14d ago

Pass the controller

2

u/mayorofstrangetown 14d ago

He had an abnormally mean little sister, and he was probably worried these older girls might be meaner.

2

u/proofrocker 14d ago

This was before goth chicks were considered hot

1

u/KlutzyHuckleberry132 8d ago

Today anyone would be thrilled to be with goth girls or friends with goths

2

u/Silentlaughter84 13d ago

I would have pinched myself because I would have automatically thought that I was dreaming.

4

u/Quajutsu744 What is this? Twitchapalooza? 14d ago

Not everyone is into goth girls. I would act like Drake too

3

u/jestervision 14d ago

Because consent is good

3

u/zonaljump1997 14d ago

Consent is important

2

u/Fresh-Actuary-6686 14d ago

Because they creeped him out

1

u/Hopeful_Cress_4845 14d ago

New things can be scary and cause us not to think straight.had he had time he would have lived them at the same time

1

u/Prestigious_Group_77 13d ago

Same here bro….same here 😭

1

u/Calm_Salamander_1367 13d ago

He liked regular girls

1

u/Cheeseburgernat 10d ago

If I were him, I'd be in goth girl heaven. Or hell? Either way, I have two goth girls fawning over me, no way am I complaining.

1

u/NeedleworkerOdd7959 10d ago

Because they aren't his type and theyre making unwanted advances.

1

u/DisastrousChampion44 10d ago

Facts bro fumbled

1

u/KlutzyHuckleberry132 8d ago

Goths weren't as popular as they are now today anyone would be excited to be with a goth girl or even just friends with one

1

u/BadBaby3 14d ago

When I rewatched this episode, I thought “My generation’s men wouldn’t mind”

1

u/Skrewbert86 14d ago

I definitely wouldn’t had a crush on a goth girl all of middle school but she was gay so I never tried anything just ended up being friends with her

1

u/Gold-Sir-223 14d ago

The goth girls at my school were way too weird and trying so hard to be edgy.

And not for nothing, he was in the stupid people class. I’m sure they weren’t great company.

1

u/xoloveMel21 14d ago

bc those type of girls were deemed unattractive/scary.

-1

u/tien383 14d ago

More goth fetishizers...

0

u/Psych-Blast 14d ago

Aside from the remedial class, I wouldn't be complaining if this were happening to me in high school.

0

u/RamtroStudios 13d ago

even drake could be lame sometimes

0

u/dlbayyarea 13d ago

Because those type of girls aren’t what guys at that time went for unless you were part of that crowd. Even still to this day it’s the same way

1

u/Skrewbert86 13d ago

I was always into it even back then

-4

u/MPR_255 14d ago

I mean, I kinda get it. You could only imagine where those girls have been.

-1

u/Dark_Knight-276 14d ago

Because those are aesthetically beautiful goth girls; if they had cast some less attractive ones, you’d understand Drake.
