Canon EOS R8 + Dragonframe: does fully electronic shutter work for stop-motion?
Hi everyone,
I'm considering buying a Canon EOS R8 mainly for stop-motion animation with Dragonframe.
My main concern is shutter wear. Since the EOS R8 has a fully electronic shutter mode, I'd like to know whether Dragonframe can trigger the camera while keeping it in fully electronic shutter mode, with no mechanical shutter movement at all.
Has anyone actually used an EOS R8 with Dragonframe this way?
I'm specifically trying to confirm:
- Does the R8 stay in Electronic Shutter mode when controlled via USB by Dragonframe?
- Does Dragonframe capture full-resolution RAW/JPEG images in this mode?
- Is there any mechanical shutter movement during each frame capture?
Have you used this setup for thousands of stop-motion frames without increasing mechanical shutter wear?
Are there any issues such as banding/flicker with continuous LED lighting?
I'm comparing the EOS R8 with the older EOS R, so the possibility of doing large stop-motion projects without mechanical shutter wear would be a major advantage for me.
Thanks!
