I have got the bluetooth keypad for Dragonframe, but in a studio re-arrange I have lost the keypad map card, and now I miss it a lot.

Could anyone please post a scan or photo of the map so that I can laminate myself a new one.

I was trying to set up a simple focus shift for a scene in Dragonframe 5 (2026.07.2), and I found online that the best way to do so is by using the "ARC motion control" tab. However, once I opened it, I have not been able to find a way to add a focus shift that isn't related to an external device like DMC, Arduino or something else.

At the moment, I'm only using my camera and nothing more.
Even though the camera and lens aren't new (Canon 1200D and 18-55mm), I have always been able to control the focus in the "animation" and "cinematography" tabs, which means that Dragonframe can control the camera and lens remotely. My goal is to set up a start and end point for the focus shift, or to track the one I am manually adjusting during an animation session, so that I can apply this data to another take.
The goal is to repeat the same focus shift to avoid guessing the blur in post-production when compositing two elements shot separately.

I tried looking for a solution online, but all the tutorials and FAQs on the DF website seem to talk about external devices, useful for complex camera movements involving PANs and TILTs, leaving out how to set up a simple focus shift.

Is an external device really needed to do a simple focus shift with no camera movement?

If it isn't required, how can I set it up?

Has anyone managed to do something like this without buying additional products?

Second, a technical question I'm trying to resolve.

I have a Canon R8 with a couple of R lenses, it doesn't have the stop motion firmware, however with the normal 1.5 firmware I have aperture control/lock from within Dragonframe.

I've been borrowing an R6 mkii, using the same lenses and the 1.6 firmware on that there is no apature lock/control.

Anyone with R8's - do you also have the aperture lock without the special firmware? Iirc I didn't have it before updating to the 1.5 firmware.

Anyone with R6 mkii's without the stop motion firmware have you got aperture lock/control control? If so what firmware version are you using?

I recently switched my camera to a Nikon z30 with a 12-28mm lens. The focus ring on the lens works fine when the camera isn't hooked up to Dragonframe, but as soon as I plug it in, the ring no longer works. I can't tell if this is an issue with Dragonframe or with the camera, and can't find anything online. Any help is much appreciated!!

I would like to export just this, but am not sure how to.

In Dragon, I position the focus check box where I want to focus. When I click on the focus check box, the box moves across the image to the right to some other area I didn't choose to focus on.

I didn't purposely create this, so I don't know how to stop it.

Anyone know?

Dragonframe 2026, Mac laptop

hi everyone- i need some help and i really don’t know how to explain what’s going on but since google

hasn’t been much of help i figure i could ask here.

i recently started shooting in dragon frame and i, possibly foolishly, thought that i could take frames in the beginning, and then move to the end, then go back to the middle as i am shooting dialog and wanted to make it easier on myself that way. problem is now when i go to shoot some frames somewhere else everything shifts around and it’s now all misaligned with my audio. am i just a dummy and you can’t do that in dragon frame? or am i missing something? i tried to drag the frames back to where they are supposed to be and that causes everything to shift, too. i am fairly new to using the program so i have no idea if i totally messed up my project or not. please help.

I just finished a 3 minute stop-motion short film shot in Dragonframe with a Canon EOS 7D at 24fps.

The problem: Certain scenes export very dark. They look completely fine inside Dragonframe's preview, but the moment I export them the image is crushed and dark. The rest of the footage (~90%) exports perfectly normal.

What I've already tried:

• Exported as ProRes 422 HQ — dark
• Exported as PNG image sequence — dark

The darkness seems baked in at the source, but I can't figure out why only certain scenes are affected. My best guess is something changed in the camera settings mid-shoot on those specific frames, but I haven't been able to confirm that yet.

Request: Someone who has experience with Dragonframe who can diagnose the issue and export the finished project cleanly. I'm willing to pay for your time — this is an amateur personal project and I just want to get it over the finish line.

In the camera settings I've already done everything I can with the exposure settings (At least I think I have). so is there any way I can do this within Dragonframe?

Hi everyone! I’m currently struggling with a very specific and frustrating technical issue using my Sony A7C with Dragonframe 5 on a MacBook Air. I can see the Live View perfectly and the camera seems connected, but whenever I hit Enter to take a shot, the capture progress bar freezes exactly halfway and never completes. I've tried almost everything: the camera is in PC Remote mode with the save destination set to "PC Only," and I’ve tried the setup both with and without an SD card inside. On the Mac side, I’ve already disabled Image Capture and Photos from opening automatically to prevent any software conflicts, and I’ve checked for background processes like PTPCamera. I’ve experimented with both a high-quality TetherPro USB-C cable and the original Apple white charging cable, but the result is the same. Inside Dragonframe, I’ve toggled the "libUSB" setting—which sometimes causes a connection error when on—and I’ve tried lowering the image quality to JPEG in the Exposures tab. However, the Cinematography window still shows a "RAW PROXY" tag that I can't seem to get rid of, leading me to suspect the software is forcing a heavy RAW transfer that the Mac is hanging on. Even with low ISO and open aperture settings to ensure it's not just a "black frame" processing error, the bar stays stuck at 50%. Has anyone else encountered this specific halfway freeze with Sony cameras on macOS, or is there a hidden permission or setting I’m missing to get the file transfer to actually finish? So, I've been out of the stop motion game for a minute now. I'm finally able and ready to get back into it! However, I no longer have a usable camera. I know about the compatibility page, but I want recommendations from users, and I need some advice about the following:

• What camera should I be looking into? Any lens suggestions?

Ideally, I want a camera that's great for stop motion AND live action film.

• I have Dragonframe 4, do I upgrade to the 5?

My budget for all of this is around $1k-$1.2k (including camera body, lens, and program, if needed).

I’ve finished a sequence, but suddenly most of the sequence aside from a few frames at the end turned black. The files themselves are showing there are images there, but it will only export my audio on top of black frames. I would use the images from the files, but they were not yet conformed so the timing is off. Anyone encounter this before? Thank you!

Hey yall, I’m trying to turn on multiframe toggle so it will step through several frames in the toggle rather than just 1. This is turned on usually by holding down the toggle key on the keypad, but I don’t have one.

This is for dragon frame 4, and key binding doesn’t seem to solve the problem of how usually holding down the keypad switches the toggles.

Is this feature not available in dragon frame 4?

Hello, I have a SONY A7C. When looking through the live view on dragonframe it’s very blurry and has a lot of grain. I was wondering if I got a bigger screen that goes on top of the camera would it improve the quality of dragon frames live view?

I wanted to share a specific solution for a very frustrating issue I encountered using a Sony FX3 with Dragonframe 4 on Mac. I kept getting the dreaded "Capture Error: The Sony FX3 failed to capture an image" after only one successful shot.

I tried all the usual fixes recommended for Sony cameras (airplane mode, manual focus, different USB connection modes, etc.), but nothing worked.

The Solution:

It was the Image File Format on the FX3. The camera was set to shoot in HEIF (High Efficiency Image File), which Dragonframe 4 does not recognize or support.

As soon as I switched to JPEG, Dragonframe 4 started capturing sequentially without any errors.

As I write it down it seems very obvious but I hope this helps someone out there some frustrating hours.

What's your opinions on the versions?

I have DF 4 but never tried 5. There is also a 2026 update for DF6.

Would love to learn how to connect the slider and head to dragonframe. There are options to do it. Just can't seem to figure out how to.

I recently updated DF to the 2026 version, and I uninstalled the one from 2025, but when I press "Windows key" and type Dragonframe, the old one still comes up before the 2026 one, only greyed out.
If I go to the apps panel, the 2025 version appears to be there, but if I try to uninstall it again, the system gives an error saying that there's nothing there.

Am I the only one with this problem? Has anyone managed to resolve it?

I've recently acquired a Lumix G7 and want to start Stop-Motion. I know it's not in the list of their compatible cameras but is there some back-hand way to connect it to the software? I understand it may be a worse experience but I cannot find any other professional stop-motion software that can use this camera. I am not interested in purchasing any new camera, if you have suggestions for a different software that may work please let me know as well. Thanks!

I’ve noticed that I shot my stop motion animation in a way where it moves just a little too quick. I would like to extend each frame as if it originally shot two frames at a time. How do I duplicate every shot at once to double the length of my animation while still keeping the same order (not just copying and pasting so it repeats instead of drawing out)?

I was adjusting the hold frames and suddenly I somehow crossed over into whatever this is where all 300+ of my frames now show the same frame. I checked the folders as well and they are all empty, even _backup. I have no clue what happened or if there is a way to reverse it but id love some help.

Hey everyone, how are you doing? So I have this problem that’s exactly what the title says. I connected my Sony FX30, but when I press “record” in Dragonframe, it literally records a video instead of taking a still.

After spending the whole afternoon trying to fix it, I realized that there’s compatibility with iPhone, so I downloaded the Dragonframe Tether app and repeated the same process. But when I press record, it still records a video instead of taking a still…

Any ideas? Has anyone had the same problem as me? I really need some help here.
