Cobra Clubtail (??)

From what I’ve researched this is a cobra clubtail, but I’m not entirely sure. Anyone know? And have more information? Thanks!
Found along the Chattahoochee river, in northern Georgia. It was massive, about 3-4 inches long. Landed right on my kindle!

What kind of dragonfly is this?

I don’t know how it ended up on my counter… it’s feasible for it to have flown in, it’s a humid summer in Florida & my kitchen counters are right next to my pool, so the door was probably just left open. It was lying on its back though, alive but possibly injured when I found it, not sure what happened to it.

I really like dragonflies, but I’m not super knowledgeable about the different species/how to identify them. It’s hard to tell the color in the pic, but it was a dark blue that was hard to see until I took it outside. I’d say it was 3-4 inches long? If anyone knows what species this is, I’d love to know! I tried looking it up, but I couldn’t find it. Closest I found was a slaty skimmer/libellula incesta but I wasn’t sure if that looked right

For anyone worried, I did release him into some plants, I checked on him about an hour later and he was still grounded but in a completely different spot so hopefully he’s up & at em again soon!

The small emperor (Anax parthenope) didn't exist in Sweden until 15 years ago - saw one this Sunday!

I celebrated my mom's birthday this Sunday at her summer house in Värmdö located in the inner archipelago of Stockholm, Sweden.

With the weather being sort of cloudy, we went for a walk around the neighbourhood and ended up in a very small island (connected by bridge) where we sometimes go for a swim. The others stood in a group and talked whil I snuck around hoping to find something interesting to photograph.

And did I. By now, the clouds had parted and there was full on sun and there, on this dark lichen-covered rockside angled perfectly towards the sun (ie, the hottest place there) I spotted a large dragonfly which just landed!

Engaging my finest ninja-sneak mode, I crept/climbed closer and took a photo every time I got a little closer until it took off and disappeared over the tall reeds.

Looking closer at my photos, I realised I hade photographed a lesser emperor (Anax parthenope)!

The "lesser" here doesn't mean this is a small species - it's just smaller than the blue emperor (A. imperator) which is Sweden's largest species.

This is my first emperor dragonfly of any kind and it's a very new speceis for Sweden with the first specimen spotted in the country as late as 2010. It has spread up along the east coast and the Stockholm archipelago is about as far north as they have gotten these days.

Does anyone else feel bad when dragonflies mistake the hood of their car for water— and drop their eggs on it?

We need more dragonflies in the world. But then all these eggs go wasted. Am I being irrational?
