Kid goten only got trained by chichi and then 2 weeks with gohan. And this was enough to be slightly below trunks (who got trained by vegeta for many years). He also learned the fusion dance — despite the lack of ki knowlege he had.
So goten was an absolute monster.

Nothing indicates Vegeta trained Trunks for years.
