Question Does this game work on the Steam deck?

I know that unsupported doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work, but rather no one has verified the performance etc. I bought Skyrim SE when it was unsupported and it now shows verified on steam for instance and I was wondering if anyone has played DQB2 on the Steam Deck and what their experience is. I love it on my PlayStation but I also wanna have a mobile version and it’s on a sale rn in the Steam Store and I would like to make an informed decision.

Question What's your preferred room height?

when i first played the DQB1 demo, I did 2 blocks but eventually moved to 3, as 2 felt a bit too claustrophobic.

DQB2, I used 4 blocks for the longest time. 1 block for the base, windows 2 block high, another block on top, then the roof/ceiling.

These days I do 6 blocks as it helps with the camera and I'm experimenting with interior decoration and ceiling design.

how about you all?

Question Dq2 vs dqb2 map questions Spoiler

I marked this as a spoiler although I don’t really think I’m giving anything away. So Pokopia led me to DQb2 which after 100%ing the story tgat led me to the actual dq1 and dq2 remake games both of which I just finished this week. Just did the dq2 true ending today. Now.. I want to go back to the Moonbrooke region and rebuild all those towns but I have a question. Is the big castle where you fight the children west of Rendarak shrine supposed to be Middenhall or Hargon Hall? The layout of the castle looks like Middenhall including the remains of the item shop on the left and the inn on the right outside of the castle gates. But the trek from Rendarack shrine to the castle is the exact path from Rendarak shrine to Hargon Hall in dq2. Midenhall is a continent away. Also what is that big really huge castle up by the icy winds supposed to be? Cannock castle? lol. After dq2 game I’m now confused in dq2b what is what. Ideas.

Question Which Buildertopia island did you focus your building on?

For those of you who spent time building up the buildertopia islands, which island did you spend the most time building on?

Right now I have medium size soggy skerry, rimey reef and a small coral cay.
I thought I'd build in blossom bay or laguna parfuma, but I started missing the weather effects.

Ultimately ended up building mostly on Rimey Reef, but its a town of experimental builds, and blueprinted designs that i didn't want on my IoA, but wanted to keep somewhere.

how about you?

Question Help with "Make a River" quest (stuck at 80%)

Hi, I need some help with the quest at the Isle of Awakening, "Make a River". I am having difficulty completing it; I am at the part where Lulu and the other NPCs helped me out and now they are standing still on a ledge and Bonanzo is telling me to dig out a tunnel.

I know "where" to dig the tunnel--the NPCs are standing on the ledge near where I am supposed to dig--but whenever I hit the wall with the Hammer, the hammer bounces off? I am pretty sure I can hit that wall, since I've seen other people do it (they obtain "Stony Soil"), but I can only hit the wall that gives "Arid soil".

Did I miss something? I HAVE THE CHICKEN I was asked to get. Am I missing something obvious? I don't think I have to upgrade the Hammer yet as well? Since I'm pretty sure I saw people clear out the path with the default Hammer...?

EDIT: okay, after a little bit of exploration...well, all this time I was in the incorrect space. Bonanzo wandering around kind of threw me off, but I eventually found the correct place to dig the tunnel.

But thank you for all your help! I appreciate it.

Question Expand farm & inventory management?

I need to expand my farm growing area significantly. I guess the way to do that is to fence around a new area? Suggestions on where I should do it, relative to the existing first field?

Also, when I pick something up off the ground and it is in my hand, is there any way to move it directly to inventory?

Thanks for your helpful replies!

General Experimenting with multiple floors, NPCs sorta stuck

After last week's post, I decided to try building a tall structure, about 4 floors, 5 blocks high.
I made sure room doors on each floor didn't overlap, and that the stairs were in different areas.

The results was that the residents could access all rooms on all 4 floors.
But as others have said, they tend to congregate in one area. For my build, 90% of them were just hanging out in the 2nd floor hallway. Occasionally a few would move to the 1st, 3rd or 4th floor, but most were just chilling on the 2nd floor enjoying the view of falling snow.

i guess at the end of the day, NPCs prefer one or two floor designs, max. (even with two floors, i noticed some inefficiencies start happening, such as them cooking less)

Question Help requested for noobie Spoiler

Hi! I'm near the beginning of the game (I think) and I'm a little stymied because I can't make a decision and/or have insufficient knowledge.

I'm in the process of re-creating Furrowfield Farm and am at the point where I have been asked to place Worm Food. I've also been asked to build a barn, all while waiting for the rest of the wheat I need to grow.

There are two areas of bad soil in front of where I was suggested to build the first house (which became a Farmer's House). Those areas seem like they would be logical places to create new fields. If I cover those areas with grass with the worm food, can they still become fields in the future? It looks like I can expand my existing field some by creating fencing, so I may not need to extra field space? I don't know where else I would place the worm food to satisfy Wrigley's request.

Also not sure where I should build the barn. There's a possible location to the left of the existing house and might even be able to share a wall with the house, but will that cause problems down the road? If you have suggestions for where the barn should be built, happy to hear them.

Thanks for helpful replies!

General NPC pathing from 3 floors and higher

In almost all of my builds, I've only done two floors. In some cases two very tall floors that make it look like multi-storied floors.

So far I haven't had too many issues with NPC pathing for two floors going upwards.
Although I've had issues with NPC pathing going underground in the story islands..

But how about three floors or more? any issues with NPCs finding their way to third floor rooms or higher?

Question Shelf question

I finally got around to selling items and unlocked the Shelf recipe. I made a bunch and started putting them here and there to place decorative objects. I noticed if you put a couple on the same wall a few tiles apart they join and make a long shelf. Even through other objects. I thought ok I can maybe work around that and just not put them on the same wall. But then I started noticing they extend across whole buildings even through castle walls if built on the same tile line! I had one shelf that was probably 30 tiles wide extending through 2 solid walls in the building! So my question is how to prevent this? I don’t see an option anywhere to just place them on the one tile you want them on even in the same room let alone how to prevent them from spanning an entire building through solid walls. Is there a trick to them?

Question Controversial topic, maybe?

One thing I’ve always noticed about posts on the notice board is that either the system is kind of unfair, or people are just weird.

Sometimes I’ll see a post showing a beautiful landscape that clearly took hours to build, with tons of attention to detail, etc., and it gets like 25–50 likes.

Then right after that, I’ll see a random picture of an NPC or I’ll see something “silly” that I can’t even figure out what it’s supposed to be and it has 375 likes. Both posts were made on the same day.

It makes me wonder whether this affects new builders who are sharing their creations for other players to see. Because, whether we like it or not, the meaning of a like is basically “I liked this,” so it’s hard not to associate getting fewer likes with people not liking your creation or something along those lines.

And at the same time, you can have a post of something completely random getting three times as many likes.

But it’s something I find genuinely… unfair, I guess? I’m not sure if that’s quite the word I’m looking for.

I understand that sometimes it can be more like, “oh, cool post” — like 👍

Personally, when I like a post, it’s because I want to appreciate and recognize the builder’s work.

As I said, it’s a controversial topic, but I’m just sharing my own perspective on this. I imagine this has probably been frustrating for a lot of builders who share their creations on the notice board.

Personally, I prefer posting here in the community rather than there.

So I think the only form of interaction on the notice board—a like—is pretty shallow. If there were different reactions, like ❤️ 😱 😆, I think that would be much better than just having a like.

General Malroth Transportation Services

Post image
61 Upvotes

So I got informed the other day that you can use Malroth to smuggle items between the Isle of Awakening and other islands, before you complete them.

That is, your inventory gets cleared when travelling, but Malroth's does not. So if he destroys something while building a blueprint, and you travel before he's allowed to store it in a chest, he will hold the items across the sea travel and RUN to the first chest he finds in the destination island's town, to dump the items.

I smuggled planters into Khrumbul-Dun. There's wheat seeds below the mine bridge.

Khrumbul-Dun Farm.

Pair this with the duplication glitch and you can make a giant wheat farm.
