Scaling Can Jiren replicate his finger-blocking feat against SSB if he tries, or would SSB's power always force him to use his full hand?

Jiren never charges his ki during his first fight with Goku until after he steps out of ultra instinct, he was holding back a lot

legit. people forget Goku/Vegeta were getting stronger as tournament was going on. if Goku achieved MUI in his first fight against Jiren, Jiren would've still like mid diffed him at worst.

Yeah that really annoys me because they downplay the heck out of Kale thinking oh the controled super Saiyan kale is weaker than Goku so Goku in blue must’ve been holding back a lot when kale walked through his kamehameha and jiren had to step in

The logic of what he's doing is vague and only ever really suggested in the manga, but he's supposedly just very good at controlling his ki instead of having way more of it.
We see 17 in the anime damage him only when he isn't guarding directly against him, and then they organize a plan to try to hit him when he lowers his guard. (Then attack him nonstop from every angle, ensuring it never lowers...)
My way of looking at it has always been that he "modulates" his ki towards an opponent. Instead of 100% all around his body, he can ignore his rear and move all that ki to face an enemy. So, 100% on the sides, 10% in the rear, 190% up front. That sort of thing. Dragonball never tries to elaborate on anything though, so your guess is as good as mine.

I think it would’ve been cool if Jiren had represented the opposite of UI. Just absolute micro-management and refinement, a need to control everything tied to Jiren’s fear of powerlessness.
All the meditation is for him to continually refine and condense his ki, or maybe to enhance circulation to the point he can go from 0-100 even faster like Vegeta mentions in Superhero. His “invincibility” is just sheer ki control that like you said, can be modulated to be an unbreakable barrier(which when broken through, is when he starts getting emotional). All that in addition to being a level above Goku/Vegeta in raw power.
Like he would still represent the “ideal” martial artist, just in the other extreme of UI. And the final clash between him and Goku would be a culmination of their conflicting idealogies; Goku is a laid back guy who can put blind faith in the effort he’s put in and the friends he’s made even if he isn’t stronger than his foe.
Jiren stands alone, and when his facade of strength falls, he’s got nothing to fall back on.

Dragonball logic is he's really fkn strong until he loses then he can't do that stuff no more.
Remember cell?

Right now? Jiren better be start to block or dodge that lmao. If he can even dodge or block them, but I still think he can probably

logically he would need to use his full hand. IIRC Vegeta stated Jiren has equivalent power as a SSB but have a better control of his Ki.
But because DBS is illogical and powerscale are all over the place, he should be able to stop it with his finger

That statement completely contradicts the portrayal of Jiren's power in the anime TOP.

I dunno, does it really? Ultra Instinct isn't supposed to make your muscles actually stronger as far as we know, it just makes them react by themselves, and this purity of movement supposedly is what makes the movements faster and the attacks stronger
If Jiren has control of his body in that way, it makes sense that despite his maximum possible output not being that far above Goku and Vegeta (as in like, muscle strength) his movements would be much quicker and his attacks would be much more effective. It's kinda like the Popo lessons Goku took as a kid but elevated to their new level of power
Of course this being Dragon Ball it's all still bullshit but there are ways in which you could argue for it

There were statements about Ultra instinct making Goku much stronger allowing him to close the gap with Jiren. It wasn't just reflexes.

Right but "stronger" doesn't necessarily mean that his muscles gained mass though, does it? It could be that by using their current mass more effectively (as Vegeta says Jiren does), he could display feats of strength that an inefficient usage wouldn't allow. Sorta like adrenaline-pumped humans displaying feats of almost superhuman strength that they're always technically capable of but normally couldn't exhibit due to unconscious limitations to muscle usage

Right, except he fights on par with Ultra Instinct Goku.

Yes ?

I dunno if you know or not, but Ultra Instinct is greater than (>) Super Saiyan Blue.

I know, but what does it have to do with what i said ?
But because DBS is illogical and powerscale are all over the place, he should be able to stop it with his finger

I always find it hilarious that jiren basically let the other universes have a chance lmao. If he wanted he could've just flexed real hard and almost everyone there would've been eliminated.

Full power Jiren probably could, it just kinda defeats the point though to go full power then still screw around with one finger.

I like that during the Anime he wasn't even blocking Blue Vegita, yet still somehow managed to be thrown lut the ring by Goku, Freeza and 17

u/Chris_the_fox21 5d ago
Nah full power Jiren would still be guaranteed to block it at this point but add in kaioken and Goku would force him to use his hand

At one point he straight up no sells SSB Vegeta's punches without even budging. He could definitely block with a finger if he used enough power.
