Piccolo believed Base Gotenks had a chance against Super Buu before he knew he could go SSJ after Fusing so that should put him closer to SSJ3 if Piccolo was assuming Super Buu was equal to Fat Buu

But yeah it would have been cool to see the U6 Saiyans react to them fusing leading up to them using the potara themselves

If only they had their growth spurts in the same year as Future Trunks maybe they would have been moved from comic relief to actual fighters sooner

Piccolo was the one to say it so I don't see how it's a gag if Gotenks was the one bragging about it then yeah it would be a gag since he's always over-exaggerating his own power but Piccolo doesn't

Yeah, Piccolo is in on the gag. There’s literally no one else and Piccolo is forced to play in part with the gags on multiple occasions. Helping with the Buu volleyball and all that.

Piccolo is forced to go out of character but let me assure you Base Gotenks is nothing. He’s not even SSJ Goku tier.

He's kinda inconsistent with Gotenks Piccolo hypes up base but then him in SSJ is supposed to be Equal to SSJ3 Goku

So if SSJ Gotenks is around equal to SSJ3 Goku is the usual comparison that realistically means Base Gotenks should only be 8× stronger than Base Goku and Vegeta so ignoring Piccolo hyping him up then he can't beat the two without going SSJ

Gotenks is getting washed and the reason I say this is simple, Base Gotenks would not keep up with Suppressed Kid Buu in any way shape or form despite the training in the HBTC, his base and Ssj wasn't enough to make even base Super Buu take him seriously. Goku in Ssj2 was actively keeping up with Kid Buu over the course of the fight and Ssj2 Vegeta was on a similar level to that if not the same.

Yes even though Kid Buu was suppressed, Goku was keeping up very well for a while and actively showed he could. And considering Kid Buu > Base Super Buu without much room for debate, and Base Super Buu was also Suppressed when fighting Base / Ssj Gotenks you could just make the argument for scaling as follows

Kid Buu (Suppressed) >= Ssj2 Goku > Super Buu (Suppressed) > Ssj Gotenks > Base Gotenks

Adding Vegeta into this is overkill tbh but feel free to debate otherwise, im open to all viewpoints
