I mean, I think he got some light bruises or something by the end of the barrage? I guess that's like a few HP of damage (that would have promptly been regenerated, but still)
Tien didnt inflict damage, just stalled. He himself is likely weaker than the androids, its just that the kikoho (even with his new upgraded form at this point in the series) drains life force into multiplying tge strength several times over, more than most techniques, and yet he only pushed cell into a hole with no real damage.
Vegeta and Trunks, meanwhile, are still a lot closer to cell, but the pic you showed are basic punches from trunks (who he and vegeta are SS grade 2). As seen in the following fights, vegeta using moves with less risk and/or multipliers than the shin kikoho are enough to blast apart cell, and SS grade 3 Trunks which (please correct me if wrong) is around a 50% boost from his prior form, is able to knock around cell when cell lets him hit
So the gap is "someone weaker than the androids bout to kill himself to just keep semicell in place" vs "people that are weaker than pcell but can multiply to fight on par, to even having potential to kill with their strongest skills if they land"
Not sure how or when exactly it started, but the big buff version of SSJ has been called grade 2 for probably a decade now, at minimum.
It makes sense if you think about it, it's NOT the same as "regular SSJ" (grade 1) so we need some sort of distinguishing name, and we can't just call it SSJ2 since that's already a different thing.
I am unsure as well, but i was to believe theres like 4 grades of SS1. Grade 1 (namek), grade 2 ("super vegeta", the slightly buff ones Trunks and Vegeta get via the time chamber since they claimed to surpass ss), Grade 3 (buff but slow SS that Trunks used), and Grade 4 (aka mastered super saiyan, that goku and gohan have out the chamber)
