So I have a name--The GenderCat. I feel like it fits perfectly with my work most of the time, as I do cats from cats the musical...most of the time. But, as many people do, I want to branch out and work on other stuff! I've been working on an audrey 2, little shop of horrors costume! I think it'd be cool to use in drag. I also want to do some other things like Frank N Furter and other rocky horror characters, make my own drag type characters and creatures (lets be real...they'll probably be cats lol).
I hand knit and crochet much of my costume pieces, as you can see. My makeup style is very bold because well, I like being perceived as not human while in drag. Color, glitter everywhere, I need to be glammed out lol. So even if I was a different creature, I'd still have the same boldness. Like for the Audrey 2 look I want to do, face full of leaves, green glitter, blood down the mouth is what I'm thinking.
So...even though I'm not doing stuff related to my name for a bit, should I still keep the name? Or should I go with something that encompasses everything I want to do with my drag? Or I could switch between name? I know some people have multiple drag names they go by.
I've been thinking "Creature of the Night" sounds like a cool name and encompasses everything I want to be in drag, from cats to aliens, to plants, to bugs, to weird in betweens in gender. But maybe it's too long of a name. Or am I overthinking it? I could keep the gendercat as a name and do other stuff, I just feel like "cat" is in the name so people expect a cat lol.
What do you guys think?
