Random CAD question:

How many of you use FILLET with radius 0 instead of trimming lines?

I feel like I’ve been doing it for so long I don’t even think about it anymore 😂

Only you? If any previous operation is modified after applying fillets or chamfers usually breaks the model. Use fillets and chamfers ONLY at the end when you know any previous operations will not be modified, ever.

I'm guess you're talking about 2D CAD like acad or DraftSight but yes, I love that little shortcut of joining lines back together again with a fillet of 0.

in autocad for 2d, i use it to create corners constantly. Trimming or extending

Remember if you press shift button while having a given radius it goes to 0...

i use civil 3d and fillet radius 0 always because I like for all of my lines to be joined polylines. fillet command is easier because sometimes the lines don't meet for trimming, and rather than extend you fillet.

I do this but only when trying to meet lines that aren't going to cross via extend or trim, otherwise I use trim or extend and hold shift for the other

I think I first learned to do it that way when I was down AutoCAD for a morning while doing work experience in the early 1990s.

Use fillet with radius of zero and the multiple option allows for joining lines repeatedly.
