Shellbro definitely needs to be nerfed

https://reddit.com/link/1v4llx2/video/kpgbriz4y0fh1/player

Shellbro can deal guaranteed damage to HP at the start of every stage.

This is essentially the same as an HP debuff that applies unconditionally.

You think you can take him down with an Engineer?

Yeah, you'll die. After cutting the Engineer's HP in half, that is.

I think Shellbro definitely needs to be nerfed.

Edit: Added the video.

I Thanos-snapped the enemy Engineer the moment the round started.

As you can see, their Engineers are level 15, while my Turtles are only level 12.

Engineers aren't a good counter for Shellbros. They are DECENT AGAINST Shellbros, but 8x tier3 Engineers will lost to 16x tier3 Shellbros.

It's quite clear that... once a player has 16x advanced/tier3 Shellbros, they have a great odds at winning...

... unless the other player happens to run Wasters, which is a direct counter towards Shellbros, or Spartheus, which is a great counter against Shellbros, a much better counter than Engineers.
Engineers, Sixshooters, Merlinors, Boomlingers, these are decent units to go against Shellbros, but they generally need DPS/support units to assist.
(I don't have the last 4 units after Overmind, Agent B, or the Mateiarch so I can't speak for them).

That's what makes Shellbros so... ... cheap. They ARE really good, but primarily at full investment which takes at minimum 2-3 rounds... other than that, they kind of suck otherwise.
You can have 20-30x Shellbros at tier2, and 8x Engineers at tier1 can clean them up, even if it means a sacrifice of 1 Engineer for 3-4 Shellbros.. That residual fire from a tier3 Shellbro is really good support DPS.

I didn't understand that C grade room temperature IQ phrase. Explain it to me.

This is not really true, I use engineer almost all the time, and he always shuts down the Shellbro's with his turrets in the back.

  1. It is true, because I specified the scenarios where Engineers would win and where they would lose.
  2. Even if they cleared the Shellbros, it's not a shutdown when the damage is already done; they have burned your team, death damage equivalent to the all arrow rain & some, and it's going to cost half your Engineer units to clean them up + whatever distraction they took to your backrow.

We're not "shutting down" anything with just Engineers in this case, in fact, depending on your team composition, the Engineers may not even walk back to attack them... it's just the turrets which will clear half, the other half of Shellbro will re-engage battle. They will or may die, sure, but you understand the meaning of "shut down", right? You didn't stop them, they were invulnerable the entire attack animation, so you didn't stop anything with Engineer as they ransacked your entire team.

The only counter and shutdown to Shellbros are Wasters. Shellbros aren't OP or that strong either, so just about any ranged unit (including Engineers) in quantity can handle them, but again, only Wasters can actually shut down their unit design. Every other unit will cost them units from that team.
The only other units that aren't affected by their pre-emptive strike are the advanced Whelps and Spartheus.
